The town of Hillsborough is the county seat of Orange County, North Carolina. The population was 6,087 as of 2010. Its name was unofficially shortened to "Hillsboro" over the years (beginning in the 19th century) but was changed back to its original spelling in the late 1960s.

Eno River

The Eno River, named for the Eno Indians who once lived along its banks, is the initial tributary of the Neuse River in North Carolina, USA. The Eno rises in Orange County. The river's watershed occupies most of Orange and Durham counties. The Eno converges with the Flat and Little Rivers to form the Neuse at Falls Lake, which straddles Durham and Wake counties. The Eno is notable for its beauty and water quality, which has been preserved through aggressive citizen efforts.

Catsburg Store

Catsburg Store is located at the junction of Old Oxford Highway and Hamlin Road in Durham County, North Carolina. The Catsburg Store is about halfway between Durham and Butner, and is near historic Stagville. This two-story, hip-roofed, frame structure is a well-preserved box-and-canopy store. Orange County Speedway is a 3/8 mile (0.6 km) asphalt oval in Orange County, North Carolina, near Rougemont. It first opened in 1966 as 1/4 mile (0.4 km) and 5/8 mile (1.6 km) dirt ovals, which operated until 1967 and 1973, respectively. With a slogan of "the fastest 3/8-mile race track in America," the oval features 19 degree banking through the turns and 16 degrees on the straightaways creating four distinct grooves making for very fast turns.

Lake Michie

Lake Michie is a reservoir in central North Carolina, within the Neuse River watershed. The lake is located in northern Durham County near the town of Bahama. Fed principally by the Flat River, Lake Michie is the primary reservoir for the city of Durham. The reservoir dam was completed in 1926. In addition to retaining drinking water for the city, the concrete and earthwork dam, built between 1924 and 1926, supplied hydroelectric power to Durham until 1960, when the generators were removed.
