Forges du Saint-Maurice

Forges du Saint-Maurice ("St. Maurice Ironworks"), just outside of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, is a National Historic Site of Canada, and birthplace of the country's iron industry. Forges du Saint-Maurice was created on 25 March 1730, the second company (after the failure of the first) granted a monopoly to employ the iron ore deposits at Trois-Rivières. The forge started working in 1738 and remained in virtually continuous operation until closing.

Nicolet (electoral district)

Nicolet was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1867 to 1935. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867 which preserved existing electoral districts in Lower Canada. It consisted of the County of Nicolet. From 1903 to 1924, it included the parishes of Ste. Brigitte, Ste. Eulalie, Ste. Perpétue and St. Samuel. It was abolished in 1933 when it was redistributed into Lotbinière and Nicolet—Yamaska ridings.

The Arena Jacques Plante is a 2,524-seat (total capacity 3,700) multi-purpose arena in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada. It was built in 1937. It was home to the Shawinigan Cataractes Ice hockey team. The arena is named in honour of Jacques Plante; formerly, the building was known as the Shawinigan Municipal Auditorium. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed even earlier: see Saint-Maurice (Lower Canada) and Saint-Maurice (Province of Canada). In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged.

Monument des Braves, Shawinigan

The Monument des Braves is a cenotaph located in Shawinigan, Quebec. It was completed in 1948, when François Roy was mayor. The monument is located in downtown Shawinigan at the intersection of Fourth Street and Promenade du Saint-Maurice (then Riverside Street) near the Saint-Maurice River. It was designed by Trois-Rivières architect J. Cuvelier and consists of a 35 foot (10.7 m) tall granite obelisk topped with a soldier helmet and a victory wreath.

Baie-de-Shawinigan

Baie-de-Shawinigan is a small industrial community within the City of Shawinigan in the Canadian province of Quebec. The place is named after its location on a bay of the Saint-Maurice River. For a period of time, it was also known as Belgoville because it faced the paper mill of the Belgo Canadian Pulp Company. The place was incorporated in 1907 as the Village Municipality of Baie-de-Shawinigan, but merged into the City of Shawinigan in 1998.
