Wipptal
The Wipptal (Wipp valley) is a valley extending along the Sill River southward from Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria, where the Sill meets the larger Inn river, up to the Brenner Pass (1,374 m) at the Austro-Italian border, one of the lowest passes across the Central Eastern Alps. South of the border, it continues as Southern Wipptal along the Eisack river by way of Sterzing to Franzensfeste and forms the Wipptal District of the province of South Tyrol.
Brenner Base Tunnel
The Brenner Base Tunnel (German: Brennerbasistunnel; Italian: Galleria di base del Brennero) is a planned 55-kilometre long railway tunnel through the base of the Brenner massif. It will run from Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof in Austria to Franzensfeste (Fortezza) in Italy, replacing part of the current Brenner railway. The line is part of Line 1, the Berlin to Palermo route, of Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T).
Obernberger Seebach
The Obernberger Seebach, formerly called Obernberger Ache, is a river in Austria originating south-west of Brenner and taking a north-east route to the Sill River. In the middle of the valley the brook passes through the village of Obernberg am Brenner. From the spring until to the mouth it overcomes more than 200 height meters in a V-shaped valley. He provides the village with drinking water thanks to its Grade A quality. In the lower course live fishes such as trouts.
Brennersee
The lake Brennersee lies approximately 1.15 km north of the Brenner Pass, 1310 metres above sea level. With an area of approximately 19 ha, it is the biggest lake in the Wipptal. The lake can be explored by motorway A13 or by local train from Innsbruck. Although the lake is always open for bathing, the water barely warms up to 12 °C, even in midsummer. In addition, the basin and motorway often conceal the sun, and the proximate environment is chilly.
Brenner railway station
Brenner railway station serves the town and comune of Brenner, in the autonomous province of South Tyrol in northeastern Italy. Opened in 1867, it is 300 m from the border between Italy and Austria, and forms part of the Brenner railway, between Verona, Italy and Innsbruck, Austria. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). Italian train services to and from the station are operated by Trenitalia.
