Newport County is one of five counties located in the state of Rhode Island. As of 2010, the population of Newport County was 82,888. It is also one of the seven regions of Rhode Island. Like all of the counties in Rhode Island, Newport County is a county that no longer has any governmental functions (other than as court administrative and sheriff corrections boundaries).

St. George's School is a private, Episcopal, coeducational boarding school in Middletown, Rhode Island, USA, just east of the city of Newport. The school was founded in 1896 by the Rev. John Byron Diman, a member of a prominent Rhode Island family. It sits on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and is known for having a beautiful campus. Norman Bird Sanctuary
The Norman Bird Sanctuary is a 325-acre bird sanctuary, nature preserve, and museum at 583 Third Beach Road in Middletown, Rhode Island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In 1950 the Norman Bird Sanctuary was founded through a bequest in the will of Mabel Norman Cerio. The Sanctuary comprises the largest area of preserved open space in Newport County. The refuge contains hay fields, woodlands and ridges overlooking the ocean and ponds.
