Newport East, Rhode Island
Newport East is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Middletown, Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. The CDP encompasses the portion of the urban area of the city of Newport that extends beyond the municipal boundaries. The population of the CDP was 11,463 at the 2000 census.
The Breakers (1878)
The Breakers (1878) was located on Ochre Point Avenue, Newport, Rhode Island, United States. Designed by Peabody and Stearns for Pierre Lorillard IV in the Queen Anne style, construction began in 1877 and was completed in 1878. The landscaping was designed by Ernest Bowditch. The Breakers was notable for its high tower and steeply-gabled roof forms. The house was sold to Cornelius Vanderbilt II in October 1885, who rehired Peabody and Stearns to remodel the building.
St. George's School, Newport
St. George's School is a private, Episcopal, coeducational boarding school in Middletown, Rhode Island, USA, just east of the city of Newport. The school was founded in 1896 by the Rev. John Byron Diman, a member of a prominent Rhode Island family. It sits on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and is known for having a beautiful campus. It is a member of the Independent School League and one of five schools collectively termed St. Grottlesex.
Ochre Court
Ochre Court is a large châteauesque mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. Commissioned by Ogden Goelet, it was built at a cost of $4.5 million in 1892. It is the second largest mansion in Newport after nearby The Breakers. These two mansions, along with Belcourt Castle (the third largest mansion) and Marble House, were designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt. It is owned by Salve Regina University.

Vinland Estate was built at Ochre Point, Newport, Rhode Island, United States, in 1882 for tobacco heiress Catharine Lorillard Wolfe by Peabody & Stearns. The Romanesque Revival style exterior consists of red sandstone with Aesthetic Movement style elements. Interior elements include designs by William Morris, windows by Burne-Jones, and landscaping by Ernest Bowditch.

Salve Regina University
Salve Regina University is a university in Newport, Rhode Island. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, the university is a Catholic, co-educational, private, non-profit institution chartered by the State of Rhode Island in 1934. In 1947 the university acquired Ochre Court and welcomed its first class of 58 students. By a 1991 amendment to the Charter, College was deleted as the institution officially became Salve Regina University.
Norman Bird Sanctuary
The Norman Bird Sanctuary is a 325-acre bird sanctuary, nature preserve, and museum at 583 Third Beach Road in Middletown, Rhode Island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In 1950 the Norman Bird Sanctuary was founded through a bequest in the will of Mabel Norman Cerio. The Sanctuary comprises the largest area of preserved open space in Newport County. The refuge contains hay fields, woodlands and ridges overlooking the ocean and ponds.
