Huis ten Bosch

Huis ten Bosch is one of the three official residences of the Dutch Royal Family, located in The Hague in the Netherlands. It has been home to Queen Beatrix since 1981. Voorburg

Voorburg is a Dutch town and former municipality in the western part of the province of South Holland, the Netherlands. As also Leidschendam and Stompwijk, it is part of the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. It has approximately 39,000 inhabitants. It is considered to be the oldest city in The Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 1988. In 2002, the cities of Leidschendam and Voorburg were merged under the new city name "Leidschendam-Voorburg".

Leidschenveen-Ypenburg

Leidschenveen-Ypenburg is a Vinex-location in and district of The Hague, located in the southeast. It is geographically connected to the main body of the city by only a narrow corridor. It consists of four quarters: Hoornwijk and Ypenburg on the southwest of the A12 motorway and parallel railway to Utrecht, and Forepark and Leidschenveen on the northeast. Since 2005 the district has its own railway station, Den Haag Ypenburg, situated on the Gouda–Den Haag railway.

Haagse Bos

Haagse Bos is an area (wijk) and a forest in the centre of The Hague, Netherlands. It reaches from the Center of The Hague near Malieveld to the city of Wassenaar. It is also one of the oldest remaining forests of the Netherlands. During World War II, the park was used by the Germans for launching V-1 and V-2 rockets. Originally the Haagse Bos was a section of a bigger forest that stretched from 's-Gravenzande to Alkmaar. This was called Die Hout (The Woods).

Forum Hadriani

Forum Hadriani, at the modern town of Voorburg, was the northern-most Roman city on the European continent and the second oldest city of The Netherlands. It was located in the Roman province Germania Inferior and is mentioned on the Tabula Peutingeriana, a Roman road map. The site Forum Hadriani formed the nucleus of the civitas of the Cananefates, who lived west of the Batavians. It was situated along the Fossa Corbulonis or Corbulo-canal.

Kyocera Stadion

Amstelhof

The Amstelhof (English: Amstel court), is a former retirement home and now home to the Hermitage Amsterdam museum. It was built near the Amstel river in 1682 by the diaconate of the Dutch Reformed Church after having received an inheritance of the rich merchant Barent Helleman. He died on 18 October 1680 and left approximately 90,000 guilders to the church. The city of Amsterdam donated the land on which it was built.

Beatrixkwartier

The Vliet is a canal in the Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It starts at the Oude Rijn at Leiden and joins the Delfshavense Schie canal at Delft. Auberge De Kieviet

Auberge De Kieviet is a restaurant located in Wassenaar in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one or two Michelin stars in the period 1961-1991. Sportpark Westvliet is a cricket ground in Voorburg, the Netherlands. The first recorded match on the ground came in 2010 when the Afghanistan played Scotland in a warm-up match for the 2010 World Cricket League Division One, which the Netherlands hosted. Despite having a boundary which is too short on one side, which is contrary to International Cricket Council regulation, the ground was nevertheless approved to hold One Day Internationals during the World Cricket League tournament.

Villa Rozenrust

Bombing of the Bezuidenhout

The bombing of the Bezuidenhout took place on 3 March 1945, when the Royal Air Force accidentally bombed the Bezuidenhout neighbourhood in the Dutch city of The Hague. At the time, the neighbourhood was more densely populated than usual with evacuees from The Hague and Wassenaar; tens of thousands were left homeless and had to be quartered in the Eastern and Central Netherlands.

Waalsdorpervlakte

The Waalsdorpervlakte is an open place in the dune area "Meijendel", where over 250 people were killed by the Germans during World War II. It is also the site of Anton Mussert's execution in 1946, a year after his arrest in The Hague on May 7, 1945.
