Holland
Holland Holland is a region in the western part of the Netherlands. The term Holland is also frequently used as a pars pro toto to refer to the whole of the Netherlands. This usage is generally accepted but disliked by part of the Dutch population, especially in the other parts of the Netherlands. From the 10th to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region within the Holy Roman Empire, a county ruled by the Counts of Holland.
Nieuw-Vennep
Nieuw-Vennep is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 10 km southwest of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. In 2006 it had about 30,000 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 3.71 km, and contained 7,513 residences. The wider statistical area of Nieuw-Vennep has a population of around 40,000. In 2001, the town of Nieuw-Vennep had 17,886 inhabitants.

Hofje van Willem Heythuijsen
The Hofje van Willem Heythuijsen is a hofje in Haarlem, Netherlands. It was founded in 1650 by the testament of Willem van Heythuijsen (sometimes spelled Heythuysen) on the site of his summer residence outside the city walls of Haarlem on land that was considered Heemstede property until it was annexed in 1927. It is one of the few hofjes of Haarlem to be built outside the city walls. It has a 'T' shape and has a small open courtyard and a garden still intact.

The original castle Berkenrode in the center of the moat was burned by the Spanish during the siege of Haarlem in 1572.
Zuidschalkwijk
Zuidschalkwijk was a hamlet in the northwestern Netherlands. It has been annexed by the city of Haarlem and is located about 4 km south of the city centre. Zuidschalkwijk was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1863, when it was merged with Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude. On October 1, 1963 Zuidschalkwijk was transferred to Haarlem and became part of the Schalkwijk neighbourhood.
Haarlemmerhout
The Haarlemmerhout is the oldest public park of the Netherlands. It lies on the south side of Haarlem, on the same old sandy sea wall that is shared by the public park Haagse Bos in The Hague and the Alkmaarderhout in Alkmaar.
Groenendaal Park
Groenendaal park lies at the center of Heemstede, Netherlands. The park includes the grounds of old Heemstede country estates Bosbeek, and Meer en Berg. Along its western borders are the old Heemstede country estates Hartekamp, Huis te Manpad, and Iepenrode. On the eastern boundary is the city cemetery.

Slot Heemstede is the site of the old castle of Heemstede. The property is situated at the site of the former castle 'Heerlijkheid Heemstede', or 'Huis te Heemstede', at a strategic position on mouth of the Spaarne river on the Haarlem lake (since 1853 pumped dry and called the Haarlemmermeer polder).
De Naald, Heemstede
De Naald (the Needle) is a monument in Heemstede, the Netherlands, erected in 1817 by the city council to commemorate two battles on the Manpad road running next to the site. The site is at the corner of the Manpad, and Herenweg, on property belonging to the estate 'Huis te Manpad'.
Museum De Cruquius
The Museum De Cruquius (or Cruquiusmuseum) occupies the old Cruquius steam pumping station in Cruquius, the Netherlands. It derives its name from Nicolaas Kruik (1678–1754), a Dutch land-surveyor and one of many promotors of a plan to pump the Haarlemmermeer (Haarlem lake) dry. Like many well-educated men of his time, he latinized his name to Nicolaus Samuel Cruquius.
Fort Vijfhuizen
Fort Vijfhuizen is one of forty-two forts in the Defense Line of Amsterdam, a World Heritage Site. It is located in the town of Vijfhuizen on the ringvaart which surrounds the Haarlemmermeer polder. The main fort is currently maintained by a charitable foundation called Kunstfort Vijfhuizen which leases space for twelve artist studios and a restaurant. The fort is situated on a hill surrounded by a moat and accessible during opening hours.
De Vennip
De Vennip is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It consisted of a small area of land east of Hillegom, and a large part of the Haarlemmermeer lake, including the island of Beinsdorp (which is now the name of a village in the Haarlemmermeer polder). According to the 19th century historian A.J. van der Aa, De Vennip used to be a manor, and was first mentioned in 1334.
Schalkwijk, Haarlem
Schalkwijk is the largest neighbourhood of Haarlem, Netherlands. It has about 30.000 inhabitants, and covers about 25% of the municipality of Haarlem. Until 1963, Schalkwijk was a part of the municipality of Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude. It consisted of two hamlets, North Schalkwijk and South Schalkwijk. The latter still exists as a separate hamlet; the area of North Schalkwijk is now covered by the residential area Schalkwijk that was built in the 1960s.
Battle of Haarlemmermeer
The Battle of Haarlemmermeer was a naval engagement fought on May 26, 1573, during the Dutch War of Independence. It was fought on the waters of the Haarlemmermeer - a large lake which at the time was a prominent feature of north Holland (it would be drained in the 19th Century). A Spanish fleet, commanded by the count of Bossu, fought a Dutch fleet of rebellious Sea Beggars, commanded by Marinus Brandt, who were trying to break the Siege of Haarlem.
Huishoud en Industrieschool (Haarlem)
The Haarlemse Huishoud en Industrieschool is a former huishoud school on the Voorhelmstraat, Haarlem, The Netherlands. It is the oldest public day school for girls in Haarlem, built in 1901, which was renovated in 1935. It is currently rented as separate units for small businesses.
Sportpark Koninklijke HFC
Sportpark Koninklijke HFC is a cricket ground in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The first recorded match on the ground came in 1895 when the Haarlem played English club Leicester Ivanhoe. The ground has a long association of holding touring English sides, with the Free Foresters regular visitors, along with other touring English county sides, though none of these matches were rated as first-class. The ground later held seven matches in the ICC Trophy.
Iepenrode
Iepenrode, or Ipenrode, is the name of a villa in Heemstede, the Netherlands, between the Leidsevaart and Herenweg, located north of Huis te Manpad and south of Berkenrode. It was once the summer home of various mayors (burgemeesters) of Haarlem and is currently privately owned.
Het Scheepje, Haarlem
Het Scheepje is the name of a former brewery in Haarlem on the Spaarne. It was owned for more than a century by the Dicx family, and it remained a brewery until the beginning of the 20th century. The historic contents of the old parlor were sold to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where they are on show.
Doopsgezinde Weeshuis, Haarlem
The Doopsgezinde Weeshuis is a former orphanage in Haarlem. The complex was designed by A. van der Linden to replace the old orphanage located at the Klein Heiligland 58, which had been in use since 1634.
St. Elisabeth Gasthuis, Haarlem
The St. Elisabeth Gasthuis (EG) is a former hospital complex of buildings founded in 1581 in Haarlem on the Gasthuisvest. The last location of the hospital on the Boerhaavelaan retains its hospital function and is part of the Kennemer Gasthuis (KG) today. The hospital complex on the Gasthuisvest was built for the "Minnebroers" monastery and was reclaimed after the Protestant reformation in 1581 and given by the city council to the hospital.

De Eenhoorn (English: The Unicorn) is a paltrok mill in Haarlem, Noord Holland, Netherlands which has been restored to working order. As all Dutch paltrok mills it is a windpowered sawmill. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 19872.
