Bandel, founded by Portuguese settlers, is a suburban area in Chinsurah-Mogra block in Chinsurah subdivision of Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is under Chinsurah police station and is a part of Kolkata Metropolitan Area . Bandel is also known as a major junction station of Eastern Railway, it is 40 km from Howrah station. The Howrah–Bardhaman Main line, the Bandel–Naihati line and the Bandel–Katwa line meet here.

Jubilee Bridge (India)

Jubilee Bridge is an important rail bridge over Hooghly River between Naihati and Bandel. Jubilee Bridge is flanked on either side by Garifa and Hooghly Ghat stations. Jubilee Bridge was opened on 16 February 1887 in the fiftieth or jubilee year of the reign of Queen Victoria. The construction started in 1882 and completed in 1887. The Chief Engineer in charge of construction works was Lt Col Arthur John Barry, nephew of Sir John Wolfe-Barry, project engineer of London Tower Bridge.

Bandel station is a major junction stations of the Kolkata suburban railway network. It is situated on the Howrah-Bandel-Barddhaman Main Line with an approximate 40 km distance from Howrah Station.
