Eersel is a municipality and a town in southern Netherlands in the province of North Brabant. Eersel is situated in the Campine (Kempen) area. Eersel is part of the Acht Zaligheden (Eight Delights) and known for its attractive market. This market, together with the Hint, has been declared a protected village on October 19, 1967. Nemerlaer Castle
Nemerlaer Castle is a 14th century castle, located in Haaren, Netherlands. The castle is named after the river Nemer and after Laer which means clearing in the forest. It was first mentioned in 1303, as home of Knight Geerlinck van den Bossche. Currently the castle is still inhabited. In the basement is a café. In addition there are cultural and public activities, such as exhibitions and concerts. The castle is also used for weddings.

In the time of the Michelin stars, Henk van Tuyl was the owner and head chef His predecessor as owner and chef was Leon Ribbens, active in 1972. In 1979, while digging under the restaurant to create a new wine cellar, labourers found an old cesspool. In it, they found some ceramics.
