Eurovision Song Contest 1959
The Eurovision Song Contest 1959 was the fourth Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Cannes, following the French victory the previous year. The contest was won by the Netherlands with the song "Een beetje", performed by Teddy Scholten. This was their second and the first time a country had won the contest twice. Willy van Hemert was also the lyricist of "Net als toen", which won the Eurovision Song Contest 1957. Van Hemert was the first person to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice.

Eurovision Song Contest 1961
The Eurovision Song Contest 1961 was the sixth Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 18 March 1961 and was the first to take place on a Saturday night, a tradition that has continued into modern times. It was hosted in the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès located in Cannes, France, where it was staged two years previously. Luxembourg won for its first time with the song "Nous les amoureux" performed in French by Jean-Claude Pascal.
Cimetière du Grand Jas
The Cimetière du Grand Jas (Grand Jas Cemetery) is located at 205 avenue de Grasse in Cannes on the French Riviera. The nine hectare terraced cemetery began operations in 1866 and is known for its landscaped architecture with rich floral decorations and statuary. Promenade de la Croisette
The Promenade de la Croisette (or Boulevard de la Croisette) is a prominent road in Cannes, France. It stretches along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea and is about 2 km long. The Croisette is known for the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, where the Cannes Film Festival (Le Festival International du Film de Cannes) is held. Many expensive shops, restaurants, and hotels line the road. It goes completely along the coastline of Cannes.
Palais des Festivals et des Congrès
The first Palais des Festivals et des Congrès was a building built in 1949 to host the Cannes Film Festival. The original building was located on the boulevard of Promenade de la Croisette on the present site of the JW Marriott Cannes. In response to the growing success of the Festival and the advent of the first business conventions, such as the MIPTV Media Market since 1965, the City of Cannes decided to build a new Palais in 1979.
Majestic, Cannes
Le Majestic is a famous prestige Grand Hotel of 1923 on the Croisette at Cannes on the Côte d'Azur It now belongs to the Lucien Barrière group. It is a traditional hotel for film stars attending the Cannes Festival.
JW Marriott Cannes
The JW Marriott Cannes is a famous five star hotel on the Croisettein Cannes. It was built in 1992 as the Noga Hilton by the Genevan hotel empire owner Nessim Gaon, and was renamed the Palais Stéphanie in 2007 when it passed from the Hilton group to Accor). It was renamed again in 2011, becoming the JW Marriott. It is located between the Carlton, Le Martinez and Le Majestic.
