Norwood, Ohio
Norwood is the second most populous city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The city is an enclave of the larger city of Cincinnati. The population was 19,207 at the 2010 census. Originally settled as an early suburb of Cincinnati in the wooded countryside north of the city, the area is characterized by older homes and tree-lined streets.
Cincinnati Observatory
The Cincinnati Observatory, located in Cincinnati, Ohio on top of Mt. Lookout. It consists of two observatory buildings housing an 11 inch (28 cm) and 16 inch (41 cm) aperture refracting telescope. It is the oldest professional observatory in the United States. It was a key facility for astronomical research and education at the University of Cincinnati and is still owned by the university. The observatory currently operates as a 19th century observatory.
Mount Lookout, Cincinnati
Mount Lookout, Ohio is one of the Eastern neighborhoods of Cincinnati, just northwest of Linwood and overlooking the Little Miami River valley. The neighborhood is named for the Mount Lookout Observatory, (founded 1842) which is operated by the University of Cincinnati physics department. Hyde Park is a neighborhood on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. Hyde Park is an eclectic neighborhood in eastern Cincinnati. Though the city of Cincinnati considers the popular Ault Park to be in Mount Lookout, Hyde Park claims it as its own. Norwood Assembly
Located in Norwood, Ohio, the Norwood Assembly Plant built General Motors cars between the years of 1923 and 1987. When it first opened, the plant employed 600 workers and was capable of producing 200 cars per day. At its peak in the early 1970s it employed nearly 9,000. The first car rolled off the assembly line on August 13, 1923. Among the cars built at Norwood were the Chevrolet Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala, Nova, Caprice, Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, and the Buick Apollo.
Mushroom House (Cincinnati)
The Mushroom House (also known as the TreeHouse) is an ornately fanciful home built by architect Terry Brown in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. It was built between 1992 and 2006 and served as the architect's secondary residence until his untimely death in 2008. Standing on the busy corner of Erie and Tarpis Ave, it is a prominent Cincinnati landmark and one of Cincinnati's best-known residences.
