Peachoid

The Peachoid is a four-story (150 feet tall) water tower in Gaffney, South Carolina, United States, that resembles a peach. The water tower holds one million gallons of water and is located on Interstate 85 between exits 90 and 92. Usually referred to by passing motorists as "Mr. Peach" or "The Moon over Gaffney. " The water tank is visible for several miles around these exits.

First Broad River

The First Broad River is a tributary of the Broad River, about 60 mi (95 km) long in western North Carolina in the United States. Via the Broad and Congaree Rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Santee River, which flows to the Atlantic Ocean. The First Broad River rises on South Mountain in northeastern Rutherford County and initially flows southeastwardly into Cleveland County to the town of Lawndale, where it turns southward.

Cherokee Nuclear Power Plant

The Cherokee Nuclear Power Plant is an uncompleted energy project 10 miles outside of Gaffney, South Carolina, United States. In the early 1970s, Duke Power started construction on a three-reactor nuclear power plant at the site. However, the project stalled due to economic problems by the early 1980s, leading to the project's eventual abandonment. In 1987, the power plant was the site of an underwater film studio built by Hollywood director James Cameron, for the film The Abyss.

WZZQ is a radio station licensed to Gaffney, South Carolina. As WEAC, the station took over the former programming of sister FM WAGI in 2007. WOLT took over Gaffney High School broadcasts. Dennis Fowler, who served as Gaffney Broadcasting station manager, bought WEAC at the time Davidson Media Group bought WAGI. Unless the listener was in Cherokee County, it was nearly impossible to receive the AM broadcast, due to its low power 1,000 watt daytime only transmitter.
