St Patrick's and St. Brigid's College

St Patrick's and St Brigid's College is a secondary school located in Claudy, just outside Derry, Northern Ireland. The current principal is Mr. Jack McCauley. There are around 500-600 pupils and currently have only five year groups but will soon be developing into an 11-18 school. The school's mission statement is "To prepare pupils for life and work in the 21st century by enabling them to strive for the highest possible levels of Christian and human achievement."

Claudy bombing

The Claudy bombing occurred on 31 July 1972, when three car bombs exploded mid-morning on the Main Street of Claudy in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The attack killed nine civilians, and became known as "Bloody Monday". Those who planted the bombs had attempted to send a warning before the explosions took place. The warning was delayed, however, because the telephones were out of order due to an earlier bomb attack.
