Lisbon
Lisbon is the capital city and largest city of Portugal with a population of 547,631 within its administrative limits on a land area of 84.8 km . The urban area of Lisbon extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of over 3 million on an area of 958 km, making it the 11th most populous urban area in the European Union. About 3,035,000 people live in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (which represents approximately 27% of the population of the country).
Alfama
Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the Castle of Lisbon and the Tejo river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning fountains or baths. It includes the freguesias (parishes) of São Miguel, Santo Estêvão, São Vicente de Fora and part of two streets of Freguesia da Sé: Rua do Barão and Rua São João da Praça. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants.
Ponta Delgada, São Vicente
Ponta Delgada is a parish in the district of São Vicente in the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 1,325, its density is 150.6/km² and the area is 8.8 km². It is the smallest parish in population and density and the second in area. It is located east of São Vicente. The main industry are agriculture with some businesses. It is connected with a road linking São Vicente and the western part of the island and Santana. The Atlantic Ocean is to the north. The mountains are to the south.

The Pombaline Lower Town (or Baixa) area covers about 235,620 square metres of central Lisbon, Portugal. It comprises the grid of streets north of the Praça do Comércio, roughly between the Cais do Sodré and the Alfama district beneath the Lisbon Castle, and extends northwards towards the Rossio and Figueira squares and the Avenida da Liberdade, a tree-lined boulevard noted for its tailoring shops and cafes.

Olisipo

During the Punic wars, after the defeat of Hannibal the Romans decided to deprive Carthage in its most valuable possession, Hispania. After the defeat of the Carthaginians by Scipio Africanus in Eastern Hispania, the pacification of the West was led by Consul Decimus Junius Brutus Callaicus.

Rossio Square is the popular name of the Pedro IV Square (Portuguese: Praça de D. Pedro IV) in the city of Lisbon, in Portugal. It is located in the Pombaline Downtown of Lisbon and has been one of its main squares since the Middle Ages. It has been the setting of popular revolts and celebrations, bullfights and executions, and is now a preferred meeting place of Lisbon natives and tourists alike.
Carmo Convent (Lisbon)
The Carmo Convent (Portuguese: Convento da Ordem do Carmo) is a historical building in Lisbon, Portugal. The mediaeval convent was ruined in the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, and the ruins of its Gothic church (the Carmo Church or Igreja do Carmo) are the main trace of the great earthquake still visible in the city. The Carmo Convent is located in the Chiado neighbourhood, on a hill overlooking the Rossio square and facing the Lisbon Castle hill.
Hospital Real de Todos os Santos
The Hospital Real de Todos os Santos (All Saints Royal Hospital) was a major hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The hospital was built between 1492 and 1504 and was destroyed in the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, along with most of the city.
Rossio Railway Station
The Rossio Railway Station (Portuguese: Estação de Caminhos de Ferro do Rossio) is a railway station in Lisbon, Portugal, located in the Rossio square. The station was formerly known as Estação Central (Central Station) and that designation still appears in its façade.
Praça da Figueira
The Praça da Figueira (English: Square of the Fig Tree) is a large square in the centre of Lisbon, in Portugal. It is part of the Baixa Pombalina, the area of the city reurbanised after the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. In the 16th century the square did not exist, and most of its area was occupied by the Hospital Real de Todos os Santos (All-Saints Royal Hospital), the most important in the city. In 1755, after the great earthquake which destroyed most of Lisbon, the hospital was greatly damaged.

Avenida da Liberdade (Lisbon)
Avenida da Liberdade (Liberty Avenue) is an important avenue in central Lisbon, in Portugal. It is a 90 metre-wide boulevard, 1100 m long, with ten lanes divided by pedestrian pavements decorated with gardens. It links Restauradores Square with the Marquis of Pombal Square. The Liberdade Avenue and the Restauradores Square have its origins in a public park (Passeio Público) inaugurated in the area in 1764, created by Pombaline architect Reinaldo Manuel.
Coliseu dos Recreios
Coliseu dos Recreios, or Coliseu de Lisboa (Lisbon Coliseum), is a concert hall in Lisbon, Portugal. It is situated in the Rua das Portas de Santo Antão in Pombaline Lower Town. The venue was opened on 14 August 1890, and a major refurbishment was completed in February 1994. The hall's capacity is from 2,846 (all seated) up to 4,000 people, depending on how it is configured. Beside musical concerts, other shows are hosted there, including theatre, circus, dance shows and awards ceremonies.
