Amsterdam–Rhine Canal
The Amsterdam–Rhine Canal or Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal is a canal in the Netherlands that was built to connect the port city of Amsterdam to the main shipping artery of the Rhine. Its course follows a generally southeasterly direction as it goes through the city of Utrecht towards Wijk bij Duurstede where it intersects the Lek branch of the Rhine and then continues on to the Waal river near Tiel, with a branch, the Lek Canal, to the Lek near Nieuwegein.
Harmelen train disaster
The Harmelen train disaster was the worst railway accident in the history of the Netherlands. Harmelen, in the central Netherlands, is the location of a railway junction where a branch to Amsterdam leaves the Rotterdam to Utrecht line.
Mijdrecht
Mijdrecht is a town in the municipality of De Ronde Venen, in the Netherlands. It is located 7 kilometres west of the main A2 motorway, between Utrecht and Amsterdam. Its population is around 16,000. The football team Argon has its stadium here. Recently the city has grown, by expanding with 'Wickelhof I and II'. In Mijdrecht is a national festival held every year. The festival is called AJOC. There is one high/secondary school called Veenlanden College.

Vleuten-De Meern is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It was created in a merger of Haarzuilens, Veldhuizen, Vleuten and a part of Oudenrijn in 1954, and existed until 2001, when it was merged with Utrecht to become a city part of it.
Polsbroek
Polsbroek is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Lopik, and lies about 10 km southeast of Gouda. The village of Polsbroek consists of a ribbon of farms on both sides of the Benschopse Wetering, with a small centre on the west side of the village. In 2001, the village centre of Polsbroek had 421 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.06 km², and contained 143 residences.

Noord-Polsbroek
Noord-Polsbroek is a former village and municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It existed between 1817 and 1857, when it merged with Zuid-Polsbroek to form a single municipality Polsbroek. Noord-Polsbroek was the northern half of Polsbroek, north of the small river the Benschopse Wetering. Around 1850, the municipality had a population of about 410.

Tienhoven, South Holland
Tienhoven is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zederik, and lies about 10 km southwest of IJsselstein. The statistical area "Tienhoven", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 230. Tienhoven was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1986, when it became part of Zederik.

Barwoutswaarder is a village in the municipality of Woerden in the Netherlands. It is located to the west of the city of Woerden. Until 1964, Barwoutswaarder was a separate municipality (then in the province of South Holland). The municipality was created in 1817; between 1812 and 1817, the village was part of Waarder.
's-Gravesloot
's-Gravesloot is a former hamlet and municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It was located between Kamerik and Woerden. 's-Gravesloot was a heerlijkheid owned by the province of Utrecht until 1751, when it was sold to a private owner. When the current municipal system was introduced in the Netherlands in 1812, it became part of Kamerik. When that municipality was split into three parts, 's-Gravesloot became a separate municipality again.
Kamerik-Houtdijken
Kamerik-Houtdijken is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It existed from 1818 to 1857, after which it merged with 's-Gravesloot, Kamerik-Mijzijde, and Teckop, to form the new municipality of Kamerik. During that time, it had about 620 inhabitants, in three polders: Kamerik-Teylingens, Groot-Houtdijk, and Klein-Houtdijk. This included the village of Oud-Kamerik, the hamlet Houtdijken, and half of the village of Kamerik.

Hoenkoop is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Since 1970, Hoenkoop has been a part of the municipality of Oudewater. Between 1815 and 1970, it was a separate municipality.

Wilnis is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located in the municipality of De Ronde Venen, between Mijdrecht and Vinkeveen. It is about twenty kilometres south of Amsterdam. Wilnis was a separate municipality until 1989.
Veldhuizen

Vliet was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1846, when it became part of Haastrecht. During that time, the area was part of the province of South Holland. According to the 19th century historian A.J. van der Aa, there was no hamlet in the area in the middle of the 19th century.
Goejanverwellesluis
The Goejanverwellesluis is a lock in Hekendorp, Netherlands. The 'Goejannen' - the men from the surrounding polders who went to sea - said their last farewells by this channel. According to the tradition, Wilhelmina of Prussia, wife of stadholder William V was captured here on 28 June 1787 by the Patriots from Gouda. In reality, her entourage were arrested at Bonrepas on the river Vlist, on the way to Schoonhoven near Haastrecht.
