HM Prison Beechworth
HM Prison Beechworth, now known as Beechworth Gaol, was a medium security Australian prison located in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia. Construction of the current structure was begun in 1859 and completed in 1864 at a cost of 47,000 pounds. The prison closed in 2004 and the site has been purchased by private developers. A replacement facility, the Beechworth Correctional Centre, was opened in January 2005.

The town was formerly known as Snake Gully and Nine Mile Creek. Many parts of this rural community have the remains of gold diggings from the Victorian gold rush of the mid-1800s.

Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum was the fourth such Hospital to be built in Victoria, being one of the three largest. Mayday Hills Hospital closed in 1995 after 128 years of operation.
Beechworth railway station
Beechworth railway station is a closed station on the closed Yackandandah line in Victoria (Australia). Although the tracks to Beechworth have been removed, the station building, platform and goods shed all remain in a good condition. The station building is used as a youth centre while the rail trail runs through the middle of the station grounds.
