Pao Fa Temple

Pao Fa Temple is one of the largest Buddhist monasteries and Buddhist temples in the United States. It is located in Irvine, California. It mainly attracts Chinese American and Vietnamese American Buddhists, including many who are students at the University of California, Irvine. The Taiwan-born Venerable Jen-Yi (真一法師) is the founder and abbot of Pao Fa Temple. In 1990 he accepted the advice from the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to build the temple in Irvine.

Concordia University Irvine is a private liberal arts university located in Irvine, California, United States and affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Woodbridge is a large suburban housing development, begun in 1975 by The Irvine Company, in the central region of Irvine, California. It covers roughly four square miles and has two large man-made lakes at its center. It contains five elementary schools, two middle schools, Lakeside and South Lake, and Woodbridge High School. The Interstate 405 forms its southern boundary. The final developments in Woodbridge were completed by the mid-1990s.

Rancho San Joaquin

Rancho San Joaquin, the combined Rancho Cienega de las Ranas and Rancho Bolsa de San Joaquin, was a 48,803-acre Mexican land grant in present day Orange County, California given to José Antonio Andres Sepúlveda. In Spanish Cienega de las Ranas means "Marsh of the Frogs" and Bolsa means "Pocket", and usually in reference to wetlands landforms.

San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary

The San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary is a 300 acres constructed wetland in Irvine, California, in the flood plain of San Diego Creek just above its outlet into the Upper Newport Bay. The site is owned by the Irvine Ranch Water District; it was used for farmland in the 1950s and 1960s, and (prior to its reconstruction) as a duck hunting range. Restoration of the wetlands began in 1988 and was completed in 2000.
