University of Groningen
The University of Groningen, located in the city of Groningen, was founded in 1614. It is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands as well as one of its largest. Since its inception more than 100,000 students have graduated. It is a member of the distinguished Coimbra Group. In April 2012, according to the results of the International Student Barometer, the University of Groningen has been voted the best University of the Netherlands.
Harssens
Harssens is a former town located in Groningen, Netherlands. It was already established in 14th Century with a coat of arms of a blue 'griffioen' (winged, lanky, standing lion figure). In 1604 when Warmolus Hilbrandus addressed Kaiser Rudolf II of the Holy Roman Empire the Kaiser made Hildbrandus lord of the estate and recognized the coat of arms. By 1742 the Hilbrandus manor and the church in Harssens were dismantled.

Ems-Occidental is the name of a département of the First French Empire in the present Netherlands and Germany. It is named after the river Ems. The Groninger Studenten Corps Vindicat atque Polit (Latin for Maintain and Refine) is the oldest Dutch student association and was founded on February the 4th, 1815 as a reaction to attacks on students from local citizens. The first rector of the senate was B.J. Winter. Nowadays Vindicat is the largest student organization in Groningen, a city in the North of The Netherlands, with nearly 2500 members.
Martinikerk (Groningen)
The Martinikerk is the oldest church in Groningen, The Netherlands. The church and its associated tower are named after Saint Martin of Tours (316–397), the patron saint of the Archbishopric of Utrecht to which Groningen belongs. The church has been a cathedral for a short period during the first bishopric of Groningen (1559–1594). The origins of the Martinikerk are a cruciform church built in the 13th century, which was extended in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Martinitoren
The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) is the highest church steeple in the city of Groningen, The Netherlands. The tower is located at the north-eastern corner of the Grote Markt (Main Market Square), is part of the Martinikerk (Martini Church). The tower contains a brick spiral staircase consisting of 260 steps, and the carillon within the tower contains 62 bells. It is considered one of the main tourist attractions of Groningen and offers a view over the city and surrounding area.

Martiniplaza, formerly Martinihal Groningen, is a complex located in the Dutch city of Groningen. It is used as an exhibition complex, theater and Sports Arena. The Sports Arena is the home of the basketball team GasTerra Flames and has a capacity of 4500.
Kapteyn Astronomical Institute
The Kapteyn Astronomical Institute is the department of astronomy of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. The institute is named after its founder, Jacobus Cornelius Kapteyn, who lived from 1851 to 1922. Jacobus Kapteyn was appointed professor of astronomy and theoretical mechanics in 1878 at a time when no astronomical tradition, let alone an observatory, existed in Groningen. Kapteyn's first "Astronomical Laboratory" was opened in 1896.

The Prinsentuin (English: Prince's garden) or, Prinsenhoftuin is a garden built in renaissance style that is located in Groningen, behind the Prinsenhof This Garden consists of a rose garden, a herb garden, a part with berceaus and a sundial on the wall above the entrance. The letters 'W' and 'A', the beginletters of stadtholder Willem Frederik of Nassau and his wife Albertine Agnes of Nassau, are planted in the Prinsentuin to, using hedges.

Gasunie Building
The Gasunie Building is one of the most famous buildings in Groningen. It was built as a headquarters for Gasunie and was officially opened on 22 April 1994 by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The building has 18 floors and is 89 meters high, which makes it the second tallest building in Groningen after the Martinitoren. It is situated in the south of the city, on the edge of the Stadspark and right next to the main highways.

Rôtisserie Le Mérinos d'Or is a former restaurant located in Groningen, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 1985-1991. In 1977, the restaurant was owned by mr. Fr. Graaiman. Geerhard Slenema bought the restaurant, at that time a bistro, in 1978 and turned it slowly into a fine dining-restaurant. Le Mérinos d'Or joined the Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise in 1986.
Muller (restaurant)
Muller is a restaurant located in Groningen, in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one Michelin star in the period 1997-2012. GaultMillau did not award any points, due to the recent change of course but kept the restaurant in the Guide. Muller was founded in 1991 by Frank Verbeek and Jacques Muller. They hired Jean-Michel Hengge, formerly of Les Quatre Saisons, to do the cooking. In 1992 he bought the restaurant.
