Harlingen, Friesland
Harlingen ['hɑrlɪŋə(n) 'hɑrlɪŋə(n)] is a municipality and a city in the northern Netherlands, in the province of Friesland at the Wadden Sea. Harlingen is an old town with a long history of fishing and shipping.
Sexbierum
Sexbierum is a village in the municipality of Franekeradeel, in the central north of the Netherlands. The village is famous for its contraction of the words "Sex", "Bier" (the Dutch word for beer) and "Rum". Because of this, the traffic sign of the village is subject to street sign theft. Sexbierum is located in the province of Friesland, at located about 7 kilometres north-east of Harlingen, about 7 kilometres north-west of Franeker. Distance to Amsterdam is about 100 kilometres.
Oldehove (tower)
De Oldehove is an unfinished church tower in the medieval centre of the Dutch city of Leeuwarden. It leans more than the tower of Pisa in Italy. Oldehove is also the name of an artificial mound ("terp" in Dutch) on which in the late 9th century a (Catholic) church dedicated to Saint Vitus was built. Construction of the adjoining Late Gothic tower began in 1529, after the citizens of Leeuwarden demanded a tower taller than the one in the city of Groningen, the Martinitoren.
Franeker
Franeker is one of the eleven historical cities of Friesland and capital of the municipality of Franekeradeel. It is located about 20 km west of Leeuwarden on the Van Harinxma Canal. As of 1 January 2006, it had 12,996 inhabitants. The city is famous for the Eisinga Planetarium from around the year 1800.
Barradeel
Barradeel is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Friesland. It was located north of Harlingen and Franeker, and is now largely a part of Franekeradeel. The municipality existed until 1984. The municipality included the villages of Sexbierum, Tzummarum, and Minnertsga.

Achlum is a village in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located in the municipality Franekeradeel, about 7 km southwest of the city of Franeker. Achlum has about 666 inhabitants.

Midlum-Herbaijum station was on the Harlingen - Stiens line of the North Friesland Railway, which opened on 1 October 1903 to Tzummarum and Harlingen on 2 May 1904. The passenger service ceased on 15 May 1936. Closure of the line to Harlingen was on 11 January 1938 and to Tzummarum on 7 December 1961.

Almenum is a historic locality in the territory of the village of Midlum, Friesland, which is in the municipality of Harlingen in Friesland, The Netherlands. It is located at the intersection of Zuidwalweg and Haulewei. Almenum according to legend is the site of the first Christian church in Friesland built in 777 AD by Gustavus Forteman. The church was the Cathedral Almenum. In 1157 Eilwardus Ludinga founded a monastery called Ludingakerke.
