Charleston County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2010 census, its population was 350,209. Its county seat is Charleston. It is the third-most populous county in the state. Charleston County was created in 1901 by an act of the South Carolina State Legislature. As defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and used by the U.S.
CSS Charleston
CSS Charleston was an ironclad ram built for the Confederate Navy during the American Civil War. Construction at Charleston, South Carolina was authorized in fall 1862 and the ship was laid down in December 1862, entering service nine months later. The Charleston served as the Charleston Squadron's flagship alongside CSS Palmetto State and CSS Chicora during the defense of that city. Captained by Cdr. Isaac N. Brown.
Confederate Museum
The Confederate Museum is located in Charleston, South Carolina, and is operated by the South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a group that re-enacts the lives of Southern women in the 1860s. The museum features memorabilia from the American Civil War, and is located at 188 Meeting Street. The museum was formerly located in Market Hall and Sheds from the 1890s until in 1989, when damage from Hurricane Hugo forced it to move.
Cooper River (South Carolina)
The Cooper River is a mainly tidal river in the U.S. state of South Carolina. These cities are located along the river, Mt. Pleasant, Charleston, North Charleston, Goose Creek and Hanahan. Short and wide, it is joined first by the blackwater East Branch, then farther downstream, the tidal Wando River. Almost immediately thereafter, the river widens into its estuary, uniting with the Ashley River to form the Charleston Harbor (then, as locals like to say, the Atlantic Ocean).

USS Patapsco (1862) was a Passaic-class ironclad monitor in the United States Navy during the American Civil War. She was named for the Patapsco River in Maryland.
Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge
The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, also known as the New Cooper River Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in South Carolina, connecting downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The eight lane bridge satisfied the capacity of U.S. Route 17 when it opened in 2005 to replace two obsolete cantilever truss bridges. The bridge has a main span of 1,546 feet (471 m), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere.
John P. Grace Memorial Bridge
The John P. Grace Memorial Bridge, or the Cooper River Bridge as it was familiarly known, was a cantilever bridge that crossed the Cooper River in Charleston, South Carolina. It opened on August 8, 1929 and was built by the Cooper River Bridge Company. Shortridge Hardesty of Waddell & Hardesty, New York designed the bridge. The Silas N. Pearman Bridge was opened beside it in 1966 to relieve traffic. They were both replaced by the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge in 2005.

The Silas N. Pearman Bridge, known locally as the New Cooper River Bridge from the opening date to the groundbreaking of its replacement, was a cantilever bridge that crossed the Cooper River in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. It opened in 1966 to relieve traffic congestion on the companion John P. Grace Memorial Bridge. It was built by the South Carolina Department of Transportation and was designed by HNTB Corporation.

Carolina First Center is the name given to the five story office building located at 40 Calhoun Street in Charleston, South Carolina that houses Carolina First Bank's south coast main offices (formerly Charleston Gateway Center). It is also the new name given to the former Palmetto Expo Center, a convention center in Greenville, South Carolina. Carolina First Center was also the original name to be given to a new athletic center at the College of Charleston for which the bank has naming rights.
College of Marine Arts
The College of Marine Arts was operated as the Sea Research Society's formal higher education wing from 1972 until 1978.
