Saddleback College

Saddleback College (commonly referred to as Saddleback) is a community college in Mission Viejo, California. As a part of the California Community College system, Saddleback awards associate's degrees and academic certificates in over 100 areas of study. The college was established in 1968 and is the oldest and southern-most institution governed by the South Orange County Community College District.

Rancho Niguel

Rancho Niguel was a 13,316-acre Mexican land grant in present day Orange County, California given in 1842 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Juan Avila. The rancho was named for a local Indian village called "Niguili. " The grant extended along the Pacific coast from Laguna Canyon and Laguna Beach, past Aliso Creek to Dana Point and San Juan Creek. The rancho encompassed those present day places and Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, and Laguna Hills.
