Östermalmstorg

Östermalmstorg is a square in the district of Östermalm, Stockholm. It is known for its food market hall, Östermalmshallen, opened in 1889. Östermalmstorg was also the location of the first Åhléns City department store, opened in 1932. By the square stands the controversial statue of The Meeting, showing a naked male figure bearing a piece of meat on his shoulders before a recumbent female figure, created by the artist Willy Gordon.

Karlaplan

Karlaplan is an open park-plaza area in Östermalm in Stockholm. The architect Lindhagen was created the characteristic form of the plaza, during the 1890s. It was created in the image of Place de l'Étoile in Paris. The plaza is named in honour of all the Swedish kings called Karl, like Karl X Gustav, Karl XI and Karl XII. Flygarmonumentet is located at Karlaplan. August Strindberg lived on Karlaplan from 1901 until 1908. During World War I, the park was used to grow vegetables.

It reopened in 2002 after a long period of closure, and was awarded the title of the best museum of Stockholm in 2005. Its displays illustrate the military history of Sweden, including its modern policy of neutrality, and of the Swedish Army. The building was erected in the 17th century as an arsenal for the production and storage of artillery weapons.

Nybrogatan

Nybrogatan (Swedish for "New Bridge Street") is a street in the borough of Östermalm in central Stockholm, Sweden. Approximately one kilometre in length, it stretches north from Nybroplan to Valhallavägen. Before 1864, the northern part of Nybrogatan above Östermalmstorg was called Seved Bååtsgatan after a local official. The southern part was named Nybrogatan after a bridge that was constructed over Nybroviken in the 17th century.

The Stockholm Music Museum was founded in 1899 (then named ”Musikhistoriska museet”), inspired by an exhibition of theatre and music which was part of the great Stockholm art and industry exhibition of 1897. Flygarmonumentet

Flygarmonumentet (The Aviator Monument) is a statue that stands at Karlaplan in central Stockholm, Sweden. The statue was a gift from the Aeronautical Society in memory of different Swedish aviation pioneers who fell in both the North Pole expedition and in the first time of the Swedish aviator era in 1917. The task to build the monument was given to the famous sculptor Carl Milles. The Aviator Monument was finished in 1931.

Östermalm Athletic Grounds

The Östermalm Athletic Grounds is a sports venue located in the Östermalm district of Stockholm, Sweden. Completed in 1906, the facility played host to several sports during the 1912 Summer Olympics. These sports included equestrian, fencing (including the part for the modern pentathlon), and tennis. It also hosted the exhibition for baseball at those same games. Current tenants is the youth program of football club Djurgårdens IF Fotboll and several lower league teams.

Folkan

Folkan (also known as Folkteatern) was a famous theater located at Östermalmstorg in Stockholm, Sweden. It was built in 1856 and demolished in 2008 because of problems with the foundation.
