Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope
The Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT) is an aperture synthesis interferometer near camp Westerbork, north of the village of Westerbork, Midden-Drenthe, in the northeastern Netherlands. It consists of a linear array of 14 antennas with a diameter of 25 metres arranged on a 2.7 km East-West line. It has a similar arrangement to other radio telescopes such as the One-Mile Telescope, Australia Telescope Compact Array and the Ryle Telescope.
TT Circuit Assen
The TT Circuit Assen is a motorsport race track built in 1955 and located in Assen, Netherlands. Host of the Dutch TT race, it is considered "The Cathedral" of motorcycling by the fans. It has a capacity of 100,000 spectators, including 60,000 seats. Since 1992 it is also part of the Superbike World Championship calendar.
Dutch TT
The Dutch TT (Tourist Trophy) is a motorcycling event, traditionally held on the last Saturday of June at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands, as part of the MotoGP World Championship. In the past all classes (50 cc, 125 cc, 250 cc, 350 cc, 500 cc and sidecars) were part of the TT, nowadays only the Moto3, Moto2 and the MotoGP classes compete. The circuit where the race is held is known as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling. The Dutch TT was held for the first time in 1925.

Hijken is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, and lies about 13 km south of Assen. In 2001, the town of Hijken had 322 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.12 km², and contained 117 residences. The statistical area "Hijken", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 890. The town is also known for its surrounding Neanderthal settlements.
Smilde
Smilde is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, and lies about 10 km southwest of Assen. Smilde was a separate municipality until 1998, when it became a part of Middenveld. In 2001, the town of Smilde had 3460 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.2 km², and contained 1449 residences. The statistical area "Smilde", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 4890.

Rolde is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 6 km east of Assen. Rolde was a separate municipality until 1998, when it became a part of Aa en Hunze. In 2001, the town of Rolde had 3558 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.4 km², and contained 1585 residences. The statistical area "Rolde", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 4160.
Oudemolen, Drenthe
Oudemolden is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo. Historically, the town of Oude Molen is almost solely owned by the Linthorst Homan family, who has always held close ties with the towns population. The Linthorst Homan family rebuilt the windmill in the 19th century. The statistical area "Oudemolden", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 90.

De Bonte Wever
De Bonte Wever (formerly De Smelt) is a sports arena located in Assen, Netherlands. De venue opened in the 1970s with a 400-meter speed skating track. Later an ice hockey hall was added. In the early 1990s the city of Assen became the owner of the sports complex. The speed skating track became semi-indoors and a subtropic swimming pool was added. In 2009 De Smelt was bought by Jan Smit, who changed the name to De Bonte Wever. In 2010 a hotel was built near the complex.
