Cabramurra, New South Wales
Cabramurra is the highest permanently inhabited town on the Australian continent, situated at 1,488m AHD (4,880 ft) in the western Snowy Mountains of the Great Dividing Range, in the state of New South Wales. The name Cabramurra may be derived from Wiradjuri gambirra marra, meaning "crooked hand".
Tumut Pondage
Tumut Pondage, also referred to as Tumut Pond Reservoir or Tumut Pond Dam, is a concrete arch dam and reservoir on the upper reaches of the Tumut River near Cabramurra in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. The wall of the dam is 86.3 m metres high and 217.9 m long. The top of the wall is driveable and is part of the road between Cabramurra and Khancoban. The road is closed to through traffic in winter as it is not routinely cleared of snow and ice.
