Battle of Corunna

The Battle of Corunna (or La Corunna, A Coruña, La Coruña, Elviña, or La Corogne) took place on 16 January 1809, when a French corps under Marshal of the Empire Nicolas Jean de Dieu Soult attacked a British army under Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore. Aegean Sea oil spill

The Aegean Sea oil spill was a spill that occurred on 3 December 1992 when the double-bottom Greek-flagged tanker, Aegean Sea, en route to Repsol refinery in A Coruña, Spain, suffered an accident off the Galician coast. The ship had successfully passed all required tests and revisions. As the vessel prepared to enter the docks of A Coruña, the wind speed was above 50 kn, and visibility was under 100 m, causing her to lose her assigned course.

Racing have used three main stadiums over the years, starting with Campo de Futbol Infernino which they continued to use until moving to Estadio Manuel Rivera in 1954. This was an oval shaped enclosure with a single cantilever stand. In the 1970s, a cover was erected over the popular terrace.

Aviaco Flight 118

Aviaco Flight 118 was a Sud Aviation SE 210 Caravelle operated by Aviaco airlines that crashed in the village of Montrove, Spain on 13 August 1973, while attempting to land at Alvedro Airport in heavy fog. The aircraft crashed into an abandoned farmhouse approximately 2 kilometres from the airport. All 85 persons on board perished in the crash and subsequent fire. One person in the village also died. Flight 118 was a seasonal daily flight from Madrid to A Coruña favoured by tourists.

Monastery of Xuvia
