Holmenkollbakken

Holmenkollbakken is a large ski jumping hill located at Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway. It has a hill size of HS134, a construction point of K-120, and a capacity for 30,000 spectators. Holmenkollen has hosted the Holmenkollen Ski Festival since 1892, which since 1980 have been part of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup and 1983 the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. It has also hosted the 1952 Winter Olympics and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1930, 1966, 1982 and 2011.

Holmenkollen

Holmenkollen is a neighborhood in the Vestre Aker borough of Oslo, Norway. In addition to being a residential area, the area has been a ski recreation area since the late 19th century, with its famous, eponymous, ski jumping hill, the Holmenkollbakken, hosting competitions since 1892. To the north, the area borders to the woodlands area Marka. The Holmenkoll Line of the Oslo Metro runs through the neighborhood, serving the stations Besserud and Holmenkollen.

Tryvann

Tryvann is a small lake in Nordmarka, the forest area just north of Oslo city, near the Holmenkollen ski jump. By the water lies a cabin called Tryvannstua, in which there is a café regularly open both during summer and winter. On a hill above the lake looms the television tower Tryvannstårnet ("The Tryvann tower"), visible from most of Oslo. Tryvann vinterpark is an alpine ski resort in the area around Tryvann, with 14 slopes and 7 lifts.

Tryvannstårnet

Tryvannstårnet is a 118 metre tall broadcasting tower of Oslo, located 529 metres above mean sea level at the hill Tryvannshøyden near the Tryvann lake. Tryvannstårnet was built in 1962 and has an observation deck in a height of 60 metres, from which, weather conditions permitting, the sight extends to the Swedish border and the Gaustatoppen mountain.

Frognerseteren (station)

Frognerseteren is the end station of the Holmenkollen Line of the Oslo Metro, located in the Marka section of Oslo, the capital city of Norway. It is the station after Voksenkollen. The line to Frognerseteren was completed on 16 May 1916. The station has two platforms which, like other stations on the Holmenkollen Line, only accommodate two-car trains. The elevation of the station is 469 meters above sea level, the highest of all the stations in Oslo.

Until 1916 when Holmenkollbanen was completed, the terminus station was Besserud and was called Holmenkollen. The station is at an elevation of 277.7 meters above mean sea level. The station architect was Erik Glosimodt. The station is close to the Holmenkollbakken facility and skiing museum. The area also has several residential buildings.

Holmenkollen Ski Museum

Holmenkollen Ski Museum (Norwegian: Skimuseet i Holmenkollen), located at the base of the Holmenkollen ski jump in Oslo, Norway, is the world's oldest ski museum, being founded in 1923. The museum contains 4,000 years of skiing history, starting with rock carvings from the Stone Age showing skiers and skis from the Viking Age. It also shows polar equipment used in the expeditions of Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen.

Tour de Ski

The Tour de Ski (TdS) is a cross-country skiing event held annually since 2006 (2006/2007 season) in Central Europe, modeled on the Tour de France of cycling. Voksenkollen is a station on the Holmenkollen Line (Line 1) of the Oslo Metro. It is the penultimate station on the line, between Lillevann and Frognerseteren. It is also the second highest station on the network, 460 meters above mean sea level. The station was opened on 16 May 1916 when the line was extended from Besserud (then called Holmenkollen) to Frognerseteren. The station is the one closest to the transmitting tower and tourist attraction Tryvannstårnet.

Lillevann (station)

Lillevann is a station on the Holmenkollen Line (Line 1) on the Oslo Metro. The station is located between Skogen and Voksenkollen, at an altitude of 425 m above mean sea level. The station was opened on 16 May 1916 with the extension of the line from Besserud, but the station building is older. That building was built in 1898 on an estate at Besserud, but then moved to Lillevann. The architect was Paul Due. Lillevann can claim at least two superlatives.

Skogen (station)

Skogen is a station on the Holmenkollen Line located between Voksenlia and Lillevann. The station is at an altitude of 378 meters above mean sea level. Hovseter comes under Vestre Aker kommune and lies between Røa and Holmen in Oslo, Norway. Hovseter was originally a place under Hoff farm. The site was mainly developed in the 1970s as a project associated experimental political sociology and was listed under the then Social Democratic government. Gressbanen

Gressbanen is a sports field at Holmen in Vestre Aker, the home ground of the Norwegian sports club Ready. The name means "The Grass Field", but it now has an artificial turf. It also has artificial ice, used for bandy during the winter season. The record attendance is about 17,000 from an international match on 31 August 1919 between Norway and the Netherlands. Gressbanen was the national arena for the Norwegian national football team from 1919 until Ullevaal stadion was built in 1928.

Tryvann Ski Resort

The Tryvann Ski Resort is a ski resort in Oslo, Norway. It is the most used ski resort of Norway. In the 1930s, the ski slope Tryvannskleiva was constructed, and the first race was held in 1933. The ski slope was later expanded with Tommkleiva, Wyllerløypa and finally with Tryvann Ski Resort. As of winter of 2010, the resort has 14 slopes and 7 lifts.

The Royal Lodge, Holmenkollen

The Royal Lodge or The Royal Villa is located in Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway and is in the Norwegian royal family's private possession. The property is used mainly in winter, and the royal family usually celebrates Christmas there, and stays at the Royal Lodge during the Holmenkollen Ski Festival every year. King Haakon VII and Queen Maud received the Royal Lodge as a gift from the Norwegian people for the coronation in 1906. It was financed by a fundraising campaign.
