Burum is a town in Kollumerland c.a. , Friesland in the Netherlands. It is the site of a ground station of the Dutch Nationale SIGINT Organisatie (national signals intelligence service), which intercepts satellite communications much like the U.S. National Security Agency.
Lauwers

From the 730's to Widukind's defeat in 785 it was part of the border of the Frankish Empire.
