Moscow theater hostage crisis
The Moscow theater hostage crisis, also known as the 2002 Nord-Ost siege, was the seizure of the crowded Dubrovka Theater on 23 October 2002 by some 40 to 50 armed Chechens who claimed allegiance to the Islamist militant separatist movement in Chechnya. They took 850 hostages and demanded the withdrawal of Russian forces from Chechnya and an end to the Second Chechen War. The siege was officially led by Movsar Barayev.
Avtozavodskaya (Moscow Metro)
Avtozavodskaya (Russian: Автозаво́дская, lit. auto factory) is a station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line of the Moscow Metro. It is named for the nearby Zavod Imeni Likhacheva, where ZIS and ZIL limousines were built. The station was opened in 1943, a few months before Novokuznetskaya and Paveletskaya. The architect was Alexey Dushkin. Both the tall pillars and walls are faced with pinkish Oraktuoy marble.

Moscow Metallurgical Plant Serp i Molot in Moscow, Russia was founded in 1883 as a metallurgic workshop and became known as the Goujon (or Guzhon) Plant (завод Гужона). It is one of the oldest major industrial enterprises in the middle Russia. In the Soviet era it was renamed after the Communist "Hammer and sickle" symbol.
Novospassky Monastery
Novospassky Monastery (New monastery of the Saviour, Russian: Новоспасский монастырь) is one of the fortified monasteries surrounding Moscow from south-east. It was the first monastery to be founded in Moscow in the early 14th century. The Saviour Church was its original katholikon. Upon its removal to the left bank of the Moskva River in 1491, the abbey was renamed the New Saviour, to distinguish it from the older one in the Kremlin.

Krutitsy Metochion, full name: Krutitsy Patriarchal Metochion (Russian: Крутицкое Патриаршее подворье) is an operating ecclesiastical estate of Russian Orthodox Church, located in Tagansky District of Moscow, Russia, 3 kilometers south-east from the Kremlin. The name Krutitsy (pl. ), i.e. steep river banks, originally meant the hills immediately east from Yauza River.
Andronikov Monastery
Andronikov Monastery of the Saviour (Russian: Андро́ников монасты́рь, Спа́со-Андро́ников монасты́рь, or Андро́ников Нерукотво́рного Спа́са монасты́рь) is a former monastery on the left bank of the Yauza River in Moscow, consecrated to the Holy Image of Saviour Not Made by Hands and containing the oldest extant building in Moscow. It is home to Andrei Rublev Museum of Old Russian Art, named after the most famous monk of this abbey.
Taganskaya (Moscow Metro)
Taganskaya is a is a Moscow Metro station in the Tagansky District, Central Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Koltsevaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines. It started servicing Koltsevaya Line on 1 January 1950 while Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line hall opened on 31 December 1966. It was part of the first segment of the fourth stage of the system. The station is named after the Taganka Square which is a major junction of the Sadovoye Koltso.
Kurskaya (Moscow Metro)
Kurskaya is a Moscow Metro station in the Basmanny District, Central Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Koltsevaya lines. The station started servicing Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line on 13 March 1938 while Koltsevaya Line hall opened on 1 January 1950.
Taganka Theatre
Taganka Theatre (Театр на Таганке) is a theater located in the Art Nouveau building on Taganka Square in Moscow. The theatre was founded in 1964 by Yuri Lyubimov and continued the traditions of his alma mater, the Vakhtangov Theatre, while also exploring the possibilities of Bertolt Brecht's "epic theatre". Under Lyubimov, the theatre rose to popularity in Moscow, with Vladimir Vysotsky and Alla Demidova as the leading actors.
Taganka Square
Taganka Square or Taganskaya Square is a city square at the south-eastern corner of the Garden Ring in central Moscow, formed in 1963 by merging two historic squares, Upper Taganka and Lower Taganka. In 1813 the district of Taganka was reconstructed by Joseph Bové, who built a market there. The most conspicuous landmarks are the lofty (1697-1712) and the Taganka Theatre. There is also a subway station, called Taganskaya.
Volgogradsky Prospekt
Volgogradsky Prospekt is a Moscow Metro station in the Nizhegorodsky District, South-Eastern Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line, between Proletarskaya and Kuzminki stations. Volgogradsky Prospekt was opened on 31 December 1966 as part of the Zhadovsky radius and is named after the nearby Avenue that leads on from the centre of Moscow into an intercity highway all the way to the southwest of Russia, although ironically not directly to Volgograd.

Rimskaya is a Moscow Metro station in the Tagansky District, Central Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line, between Chkalovskaya and Krestyanskaya Zastava stations. Rimskaya opened on 28 December 1995 as part of the original stage of the Lyublinsky radius the station was named after the Italian capital Rome, and the architects L. Popov and N. Rostegnyaeva applied the theme accordingly.
Chkalovskaya (Moscow Metro)
Chkalovskaya is a Moscow Metro station in the Basmanny District, Central Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line, between Sretensky Bulvar and Rimskaya stations. Chkalovskaya opened on 28 December 1995 as the first stage of the Lyublinskiy radius.

Pokrovsky Boulevard is a major boulevard in the central part of Moscow running from Clean Ponds to Vorontsovo Pole Street, including Yauzsky Boulevard. With other boulevards like; Tverskoy Boulevard and Chistoprudny Boulevard, this is a part of the Boulevard Ring, running as a circle through the central Moscow.
Yauzsky Boulevard
The Yauzsky Boulevard,, is a major boulevard in central Moscow. The boulevard runs from Vorontsovo Pole Street and Pokrovsky Boulevard down to Moskvoretskaya Embankment at the Yauza River, whence comes the name of the boulevard. It's the end of the important Boulevard Ring, an orbital ring filled with many boulevards.
Eduard Streltsov Stadium
Eduard Streltsov Stadium, formerly Torpedo Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Moscow, Russia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Torpedo Moscow. The stadium was built in 1959. It had very modest facilities at the time and was used as a training ground by Torpedo Moscow. By 1979 the stadium had been completely overhauled. The capacity was enlarged to 16,000 and an under-soil heating system was installed, the first in Russia.
Moscow International House of Music
The Moscow International Performing Arts Centre was officially opened on September 28, 2003 with the debut of a new orchestra, the National Philharmonic of Russia under musical director Vladimir Spivakov. Also known as the Moscow International House of Music (Dom Muzyki), it is situated on the Kosmodamianskaya Embankment off the Garden Ring Road.
Kursky railway station

Ploshchad Ilyicha
Ploshchad Il'icha is a station on the Moscow Metro's Kalininskaya Line. It was opened on 30 December 1979 as part of the line's first stage. Named after the Il'ich square, which has since been renamed to Rogozhskaya Zastava, the station is a deep-level pylon tri-vault design. The connotation of the location's former name, influenced the architectural theme of the station realisation of Lenin's ideas by architects L. Popov and V. Klokov and engineers Ye. Barsky and Yu. Murmotsev.

Taganka Prison
Taganka Prison was built in Moscow in 1804 by Alexander I, emperor of Russia. It gained notoriety for its use as a prison for political prisoners, both by the ruling tsars and during the years of the Soviet Union, by the Communist Party. During the Great Purge, the prison housed foreign enemies of the state, such as the German communist, Gustav Sobottka, Jr. , as well as Russians. The prison became immortalized in poems and songs dating from before the October Revolution in 1918.
Museum of the Moscow Railway
The Museum of the Moscow Railway is situated next to Paveletsky Rail Terminal in Moscow. The museum reopened to private visitors in 2011 and it reopened to the general public in January 2012. The opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday 10.00am to 7.00pm. The museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
