Scheemda
Scheemda is a former municipality and a town in the northeastern Netherlands. Since January 1, 2010 it forms a part of Oldambt.
Reiderland
Reiderland is a former municipality in the province Groningen in the northeastern Netherlands, which was founded in 1990 during a large municipal reorganization. The former municipalities Finsterwolde and Bad Nieuweschans were abolished and added to Beerta. In 1992, the new municipality was given its current name. In 2010 it joined in the municipality Oldambt.
Veendam
Veendam is a municipality and a town in the northeastern Dutch province of Groningen. A Holland America Line cruise ship, the MS Veendam, is named after the city.
Winschoten
Winschoten is a former municipality and city in the northeast of the Netherlands. Population (1 Jan 2003): 18.497; area: 22,24 km2. The origin of the name of Winschoten is not known but it has received nicknames. One of these is Molenstad (or Milltown). It has also been known, in living memory, as Sodom. This name arose out of the Jewish community who were scandalised by the immoral behaviour of their Gentile neighbours. The inhabitants are also called Tellerlikkers (plate lickers).
Battle of Heiligerlee (1568)
Not to be confused with the earlier Battle of Heiligerlee (1536) The Battle of Heiligerlee was fought between Dutch rebels and the Spanish army of Friesland. This was the first Dutch victory during the Eighty Years' War. The Groningen province of the Spanish Netherlands was invaded by an army consisting of 3,900 infantry led by Louis of Nassau and 200 cavalry led by Adolf of Nassau. Both were brothers of William I of Orange.
Heiligerlee
Heiligerlee is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen bordering the town of Winschoten, it is part of the municipality of Oldambt. The village is known for having been the site of the first battle of the Dutch rebels against the Spanish. The army led by Louis and Adolf of Nassau defeated the Spanish, but politically it was no success. Adolf even died during the fight.
Muntendam
Muntendam is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen, municipality Menterwolde. Until 1990 it was a separate municipality, which boasted the title 'reddest (most socialist) municipality in the Netherlands', with a council of 11 containing 7 PvdA (Labour Party) members and 2 CPN (Communist Party) members. (However, nearby Reiderland had had a vast CPN majority since WWII, so the claim is rather too strong).
Wildervank
Wildervank is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Veendam, about 3 km south of the centre of Veendam itself. Wildervank was a separate municipality until 1969, when the area was divided between Veendam and Stadskanaal.
De Langeleegte
De Langeleegte is a multi-use stadium in Veendam, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of BV Veendam. The stadium is able to hold 6,500 people and was built in 1954, with major renovations taking place in 1998.

Oostwold Airport
Oostwold Airport, also known as Groningen Airport Oostwold, is a small general aviation airport in Oostwold, a village in municipality of Scheemda in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The airport is 3 NM north of the city and municipality of Winschoten. The airport is limited by the Dutch aviation authorities to 4,800 aircraft movements a year (an aircraft movement being either a take-off or a landing) and has limited and irregular opening hours.
Alteveer, Groningen
Alteveer is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is largely located in the municipality Stadskanaal, about 7 km northeast of the centre of Stadskanaal. The mouses on the western edge of the village are part of the municipality of Pekela. Alteveer was founded along the Alteveer canal, which runs north from Stadskanaal.

About 2600 farmers are member of AVEBE. The cooperation is divided into six districts (two in Germany and four in the Netherlands).
Spinnenkop Wedderveer
Spinnenkop Wedderveer is a wind powered sawmill in the village of Wedderveer, Groningen, Netherlands. It is a hollow post windmill of the type called "spinnenkop" by the Dutch built on top of a brick shed. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 388083 and is in working order.
