The Gulf of Corinth or the Corinthian Gulf (Κορινθιακός Kόλπος, Korinthiakόs Kόlpos, in Greek) is a deep inlet of the Ionian Sea separating the Peloponnese from western mainland Greece. It is bounded in the east by the Isthmus of Corinth which includes the shipping route of the Corinth Canal, and in the west by the Strait of Rion, which separates the Gulf of Corinth from the outer Gulf of Patras at Cape Drepano, where the narrowest point is crossed by the Rio-Antirio bridge.

Sylivainiotika

Sylivainiotika is a village in Achaea, Greece, near the town of Akrata. Recent archaeological discoveries have revealed that there was a civilization in the village even in the middle Neolithic era. A painted fruit stand was discovered in the region that was made during the 6th millennium BC. This finding is being exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Aigio (about 35 km west of Sylivainiotika on the highway from Athens to Patras).

Vouraikos

The Vouraikos is a river in Achaea, Greece. In ancient times it was called Erasinos. Its source is in the Aroania mountains, near the village of Priolithos. It flows past the towns of Kalavryta and Diakopto, and flows into the Gulf of Corinth near Diakopto. Its length is 40 km. The name is derived from Boura, a mythological daughter of Ion and Helice who was beloved by Hercules, who according to legend opened the gorge in order to get close to her.
