Saronic Gulf
The Saronic Gulf or Gulf of Aegina in Greece forms part of the Aegean Sea and defines the eastern side of the isthmus of Corinth. It is the eastern terminus of the Corinth Canal, which cuts across the isthmus.
Hellenic Navy
The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. During the periods of monarchy (1833–1924 and 1936–1973) it was known as the Royal Navy (Βασιλικόν Ναυτικόν, Vasilikón Naftikón, abbreviated ΒΝ).
Phaleron Bay
The Bay of Phaleron or Faliro is a bay of the Aegean Sea on the coast of Attica, Greece. It was the main port for ancient Athens, before the port at Piraeus was constructed. It is about 6 km southwest of Athens city centre. The suburbs of Palaio Faliro, Kallithea, Moschato and Neo Faliro are situated along the bay. The Peace and Friendship Stadium is situated at the western end of the bay. The Poseidonos Avenue runs along the shore.
Saronic Islands
The Saronic Islands or Argo-Saronic Islands is an archipelago in Greece, named after the Saronic Gulf in which they are located, just off the Greek mainland. The main inhabited islands of this group are Salamis (where the ancient Greek navy defeated the Persians in the Battle of Salamis), Aegina, Angistri, and Poros.
Kypseli, Methana
Kypseli is situated in the eastern part of the Methana volcanic peninsula. It was originally a farming village.
Battle of Munichia
The Battle of Munichia was fought between Athenians exiled by the oligarchic government of the Thirty Tyrants and the forces of that government, supported by a Spartan garrison. In the battle, a substantially superior force composed of the Spartan garrison of Athens and the army of the oligarchic government attacked a hill in Piraeus which had been seized by 1,000 exiles under Thrasybulus, but was defeated. After this defeat, the Thirty Tyrants were forced to flee to Eleusis.
Panteion University
The Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Greek: Πάντειον Πανεπιστήμιο Κοινωνικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών), usually referred to simply as the Panteion University, is a university located in Athens, Greece. Founded in 1927, it is among the three oldest universities of political sciences in Europe.
Salamis Bay
Salamis Bay is a bay in Greece that connects with the Saronic Gulf to the west. The total length is approximately 10 km long from north east to west and about 4 km wide from north to south. It begins from the northwesternmost tip down to Cape Petritis. Villages by the gulf include Aianteio (or Eantio). The mountains encircle the bay except for the open waters to the west. The road linking with places in the south of the island lie to the east and another further north.
Munichia
Munichia is the ancient Greek name for a steep hill (86 m. high) in Piraeus, Athens, Greece known today as Kastella. This is a fashionable neighborhood in central Piraeus. On the top of the hill is a Greek Orthodox church named after the Prophet Elijah. The narrow streets around the church are surrounded by picturesque houses. The Veakio Theater, known for its summer performances is located here. In 403 BCE, Athenian democrats defeated forces of the thirty tyrants at the Battle of Munychia.
Hellenic Naval Academy
The Hellenic Naval Academy (Greek: Σχολή Ναυτικών Δοκίμων, lit. "School of Naval Cadets") is a military academy with university status and has the responsibility to educate and suitably train competent Naval Officers for the Hellenic Navy. Its full name is Hellenic Naval Cadets Academy and was founded in 1845. The academy is one of the oldest educational institutions in Greece. The academy educates Deck and Engineering Naval cadets.
Freattyda
Freattyda is the name of a residential area in Piraeus, Greece. It is situated in the southeastern part of the city, near the Zea harbour. The Hellenic Maritime Museum is situated in Freattyda.

The Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, Attica, contains mainly sculptures, discovered in Piraeus and in the area of the Attic coast from Bronze Age to Roman times
Hellenic Maritime Museum
The Hellenic Maritime Museum was founded in 1949. It is located at Freatida, near Zea Harbour, in Piraeus. The museum exhibits approximately 2500 items related to the maritime history of Greece from prehistoric times to the present day. The exhibits are displayed in chronological order. They include many ship models and a number of paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum admits visitors from Tuesday to Saturday at 09:00-14:00.
University of Piraeus
The University of Piraeus is a university located in Piraeus, Greece with a total of nine academic departments focused mainly on economics, business management and information technology. It is currently one of the leading academic institutions in the country.
Bay of Zea
The Bay of Zea, since Ottoman times and until recently known as Pasalimani (Πασαλιμάνι), is a broad bay located at the eastern coast of the Piraeus peninsula in Greece. It hosted the swimming events at the 1896 Summer Olympics held in Athens. A seaport and marina are located in the bay.
