Calydon
Calydon was an ancient Greek city in Aetolia, situated on the west bank of the river Evenus. According to Greek mythology, the city took its name from its founder Calydon, son of Aetolus. Close to the city stood Mount Zygos, the slopes of which provided the setting for the hunt of the Calydonian Boar. The city housed the important Aetolian sanctuary known as the Laphrion, dedicated to Artemis Laphria and Apollo Laphrios.
Third Siege of Missolonghi
The Third Siege of Missolonghi (Greek: Τρίτη Πολιορκία του Μεσσολογίου, often erroneously referred to as the Second Siege) was fought in the Greek War of Independence, between the Ottoman Empire and the Greek rebels, from 15 April 1825 to 10 April 1826. The Ottomans had already tried and failed to capture the city in 1822 and 1823, but returned in 1825 with a stronger force of infantry and a stronger navy supporting the infantry.
Stratos (lake)
Lake Stratos (Greek: Λίμνη Στράτου,Limni Strátou) is an artificial lake in Greece. It is located near Stratos near a pond in which the GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Arta - Ioannina) viaduct is nearly located. The lake's has a minimum of 60,000,000 m³ of water and the maximum is 70,200,000 m³. The lake is home to the Hellenic Water Ski Federation and today functions as the National Waterskiing Center (Centre). The Acheloos River is dammed by the Stratos Hydroelectric Dam to form this lake.
Stratos Hydroelectric Dam
The Stratos Hydroelectric Dam (Greek: Υδροηλεκτρικό Φράγμα Στράτου, Ydroilektriko Φragma Stratou) is a dam that dams up the Acheloos River just east of Stratos and north of the GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Amfilochia - Ioannina).
Lake Lysimachia
Lysimachia is a lake located west of Agrinio, Greece. The Acheloos river flows to the northwest with an artificial flow now to the east and an old natural flow near the lake. The area is 13.2 km², it is 17 km in length, its depth is around 9 m. East of the lake features another lake in the Great Aetolian Fields, the Trichonida which has an ecosystem. The lake offers a view of the city of Agrinio to the southeast.
Ozeros
Lake Ozeros (Greek: Οζερός, Λίμνη Οζερού) is a lake located west of Agrinio. The lake is formed from the waters of the Acheloos river, flowing from the northwest. The lake has a surface of ca. 10 km and an average depth of 8-10 m, but this varies greatly with the season. The GR-5/E55 runs to the northeastern side.
Dimokratias Square (Agrinio)
Dimokratias Square (Greek: Πλατεία Δημοκρατίας, Plateia Dimokratias, "Democracy Square") is the central square of the city of Agrinio. The square was created in 1879 when Michail Bellos (Μιχαήλ Μπέλλος) was mayor, and was long named Bellou Square (Πλατεία Μπέλλου) after him. On Good Friday 1944, the German occupation authorities hung Avraam Anastasiadis, Panos Soulos and Christos Salakos from the square's lamp-posts. Today, three roads leading to the square are named after them.
Panetolikos Stadium
Panetolikos Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Agrinio in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Panetolikos. The stadium is located at Prousiotissis Street and it holds 7,500 people. Its highest attendance was 11,012 during a match with Olympiacos CFP in 1977. There are plans to increase the seating capacity of the stadium to 11,000 in the future if necessary.
Archaeological Museum of Agrinio
The Archaeological Museum of Agrinio (Greek: Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Αγρινίου, Archaiologiko Mouseio Agriniou) is a museum located in the city of Agrinio in Aetolia-Acarnania, in Greece. It lies next to the Papastrateio Municipal Park and features artifacts dating back to Antiquity and Roman times from the area around Agrinio. It was constructed in 1960 through the donation of the Papastratos firm.
Aitoliko Lagoon
The Aitoliko Lagoon (Greek: Λιμνοθάλασσα Αιτωλικού Limnothalassa Aitolikou) is a lagoon located in the south of Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. It forms a part of the Acheloos river. In the middle of the lagoon is a small island which has a city that is named Aitoliko. The road linking Astakos and the GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Agrinio - Ioannina lies to the south. The Acheloos river flows to the west. The lagoon was created by an earthquake and is 28 metres deep. Its water is sweet.
Missolonghi–Aitoliko Lagoons
The Missolonghi-Aitoliko lagoons complex is located in the north part of the Gulf of Patras in the central west coast of Greece. It is one of the most important Mediterranean lagoons. It is a shallow area of 150 km, extended between the Acheloos and Evinos rivers. It is protected by the Ramsar Convention and it is also included in the Natura 2000 network.

Aitoliko Railway Station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Αιτωλικού, Sidirodromikos Stathmos Etolikou) was a railway station in the town of Aitoliko in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece, the station served two rail lines: Kryoneri–Agrinio railway, at km 26.890 from Kryoneri Limena. Aitoliko–Katochi railway, the starting point of the line The station took its name from the town that it served, and it was located east of the island which contains the town centre of Aitoliko.
