Thousand Oaks, California

Thousand Oaks is a city in southeastern Ventura County, California, in the United States. It was named after the many oak trees that grace the area, and the city seal is adorned with an oak. The city forms the most populated part of a regional area called the Conejo Valley, which includes Thousand Oaks proper, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, and Oak Park. The Los Angeles County/Ventura County line crosses at the western city limits of Westlake Village.

Conejo Valley Botanical Garden

The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is located in Thousand Oaks, California, USA, in the Conejo Valley 39 miles west of Los Angeles. The Garden contains mostly native species, and displays over 60 types of salvia, of which at least 10 are California native species. The garden also features a rare fruit collection, currently composed of 130 trees of 40 varieties from 35 countries. The garden is 33 acres (134,000 m²) in size, and is maintained by volunteers.

Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is a performing arts and administrative center located in Thousand Oaks, California. It was built in 1994 on the former site of Jungleland at a cost of $63.8 million. Grant R. Brimhall Library

The Grant R. Brimhall Library serves as the main library for the city of Thousand Oaks, California. It is controlled by the Thousand Oaks Library System, which also controls the Newbury Park Branch Library. The Grant R. Brimhall Building is located on Janss Rd. near State Route 23. Jungleland USA

Jungleland USA was a private zoo, animal training facility, and animal theme park in Thousand Oaks, California, United States, on the current site of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. At its peak the facility encompassed 170 acres . Louis Goebel created Jungleland in 1926 as a support facility for Hollywood. He had been employed at Universal Studios when the studio decided to close down its own animal facility; five of the Universal Studio lions formed the nucleus of Goebel's collection.
