1992 Guadalajara explosions

The 1992 Guadalajara explosions took place on April 22, 1992, in the downtown district of Analco. Numerous gasoline explosions in the sewer system over four hours destroyed 8 kilometers of streets. Gante Street was the most damaged. Officially, by the Lloyd's of London accounting, 252 people were killed, nearly 500 injured and 15,000 were left homeless. The estimated monetary damage ranges between $300 million and $1 billion.

Hospicio Cabañas

The Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, a World Heritage Site, is one of the oldest and largest hospital complexes in the Americas. The complex was founded in 1791 by the Bishop of Guadalajara in order to combine the functions of a workhouse, hospital, orphanage, and almshouse. It owes its name to Juan Ruiz de Cabañas who was appointed to the see of Guadalajara in 1796 and engaged Manuel Tolsá, a renowned architect from Mexico City, to design the structure.

Torrena

The Torrena, a planned 336.5 metres -high telecommunications and entertainment vaporware tower in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The tower has been under construction since the spring of 2005. The Torrena is being constructed in the municipality of Zapopan in an area of 17,720 m², right next to the Plaza del Sol shopping mall, and is expected to be finished by 2009. Telmex Auditorium

Auditorio Telmex is an indoor amphitheatre, located in Zapopan, Mexico. It can hold between 2,700 and 11,500 people, depending on the event. Telmex, the largest communications company in Mexico, sponsored the auditorium and is one of the main centerpieces of the University Cultural Center, which is a large cultural project created by the University of Guadalajara.
