Baghdad International Airport
Baghdad International Airport, and also Saddam International Airport originally,, is Iraq's largest airport, located in a suburb about 16 km west of downtown Baghdad in the Baghdad Governorate. It is the home base for Iraq's national airline, Iraqi Airways. It is often abbreviated BIAP, although BIAP is not an official airport code.
Camp Cropper
Camp Cropper was a holding facility for security detainees operated by the United States Army near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. The facility was initially operated as a high-value detention site (HVD), but has since been expanded increasing its capacity from 163 to 2,000 detainees. Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was held there prior to his execution.

2003 Baghdad DHL attempted shootdown incident
On 22 November 2003, shortly after takeoff from Baghdad, Iraq, an Airbus A300 cargo plane owned by European Air Transport ("DHL") was struck on the left wing tip by a surface-to-air missile. Severe wing damage resulted in a fire and complete loss of hydraulic flight control systems. Because outboard left wing fuel tank 1A was full at takeoff, there was no fuel-air vapour explosion. Liquid jet fuel dropped away as 1A disintegrated. Inboard fuel tank 1 was pierced and leaking.

Al-Jihad (Bagdad)
Jihad is a neighborhood in the Al Rashid district in West Bagdad. The New York Times calls it "A former slice of mixed middle-class calm in the heart of western Baghdad, Jihad fell to Sunni insurgents after the American invasion. Flowing in from neighboring Amiriya to streets dominated by former Baathist intelligence officers, the extremist groups shot and killed barbers, government officials and businessmen and dumped their bodies in the streets for all to see.
Blackwater Baghdad shootings
On September 16, 2007, seventeen Iraqi civilian fatalities and twenty injuries occurred in the Blackwater Baghdad shootings in Nisour Square, Baghdad. The fatalities occurred while a Blackwater Personal Security Detail was clearing the way for a convoy of US State Department vehicles transporting diplomats to a meeting in western Baghdad with officials of the United States Agency for International Development. The killings outraged Iraqis and strained relations between Iraq and Washington.

Camp Liberty is a former United States military installation in Baghdad, Iraq, now being used by the People's Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI). Camp Liberty first came into existence during the 2003 invasion of Iraq as Camp Victory North, and was renamed in mid-September 2004 (its Arabic translation is "Camp Al-Tahreer") to its later name of Camp Liberty. 2004 Iraq KBR convoy ambush
The 2004 Iraq KBR convoy ambush was an attack by Iraqi insurgents on April 9, 2004 during the Iraq War on a convoy of United States (US) supply trucks near the Baghdad International Airport. It happened in the midst of the Iraq spring fighting of 2004, which saw intensified clashes throughout the country. A convoy of 26 supply trucks operated by US defense contractor KBR escorted by the 13th Corps Support Command (COSCOM), United States Army.
Umm al-Qura Mosque
