Medinah Country Club
Medinah Country Club is a private country club in Medinah, Illinois, with nearly 600 members and 640 acres containing three golf courses, Lake Kadijah, swimming facilities and a Byzantine-style, mosque-evoking clubhouse with Oriental, Louis XIV and Italian architectural aspects. Medinah is widely known for its Course 3, now at 7,657 yards, which has hosted five major championships: three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, and the 2012 Ryder Cup from September 28–30.
Lake Park High School
Lake Park High School is a public, four-year high school occupying two campuses, both located in Roselle, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. The 2006 PGA Championship was the 88th PGA Championship, played August 17–20 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. On the No. 3 Course, the longest to date in major championship history, Tiger Woods won his third PGA Championship, five shots ahead of runner-up Shaun Micheel, the 2003 champion. Woods' victory was his 12th major championship. Medinah previously hosted the tournament in 1999, when Woods captured his first PGA Championship.

The 1990 U.S. Open was the 90th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 14–18, 1990, at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Hale Irwin became the oldest U.S. Open champion by defeating Mike Donald on the first sudden-death hole, after the two tied in the 18-hole playoff. It was Irwin's third career U.S. Open title. Irwin was without a PGA Tour win in five years and 11 years removed from his last U.S.

The 1949 U.S. Open was the 49th U.S. Open, held June 9–11, 1949, at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Cary Middlecoff won the first of his two U.S. Open titles, one stroke ahead of runners-up Clayton Heafner and Sam Snead. For Snead, it was the third of four second-place finishes at the only major championship he never won. Middlecoff, a dentist, won his second U.S. Open in 1956.
1999 PGA Championship
The 1999 PGA Championship was the 81st PGA Championship, held from August 12–15 at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Tiger Woods, 23, won his first PGA Championship and second major, one stroke ahead of runner-up Sergio García, age 19. At the time, many (including noted commentator Gary McCord) predicted this would mark the beginning of a long rivalry between Woods and García.
2012 Ryder Cup
The 39th Ryder Cup was held September 28–30, 2012, at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, U.S. This was the first time that the Ryder Cup was held in Illinois. Europe went into the competition as the cup holders, having defeated the United States 14½ points to 13½ in 2010. The team captains were Davis Love III for the U.S. and José María Olazábal for Europe. At the start of the final day's play, the U.S.
