The Old Gum Tree
The Old Gum Tree is a historic site in Glenelg North, Australia. On 28 December 1836, the British governor John Hindmarsh delivered the proclamation creating the colony of South Australia. A ceremony is held on each year on Proclamation Day, with the current Governor reading out Hindmarsh's original speech. The tree itself, probably a red gum, has long since died. Its decayed outer surface was encased in concrete in 1963.
Glenelg, South Australia
Glenelg is a popular beach-side suburb of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Located on the shore of Holdfast Bay in Gulf St Vincent, it has become a popular tourist destination due to its beach and many attractions, home to several hotels and dozens of restaurants. Marion is a suburb in the City of Marion in Adelaide around 10 km south-west of the CBD. Founded as a rural village in 1838 on the banks of the Sturt River, Marion was found to have rich soil and the population expanded rapidly. Colonel William Light laid out the plan for the village, as he had done with the City of Adelaide itself.

Ascot Park railway station is a railway station on the Noarlunga Centre railway line in Adelaide, South Australia, and is located 10.2 km from Adelaide Railway Station. The station is positioned near Daws Road and can be reached by travelling down Joy Street or Railway Terrace. The station has two tracks, either side of an island platform with a pedestrian subway connecting the platform to the two adjacent streets. Parking (although insecure) is available on both these streets.

The name is believed to have been given by Henry Mooringe Boswarva to a private subdivision in the area, naming after his home town in Devon, England. In 1896 a "plumpton" track for coursing was established in the area by the Plympton Coursing Company.
