Gawler, South Australia
Gawler is the first country town in the state of South Australia, and is named after the second Governor (British Vice-Regal representative) of the colony of South Australia, George Gawler. It is 44 km north of the centre of the state capital, Adelaide, and is close to the major wine producing district of the Barossa Valley. Topographically, Gawler lies at the confluence of two tributaries of the Gawler River, the North and South Para rivers, where they emerge from a range of low hills.
North Para River
The North Para River rises from the Barossa Ranges near Eden Valley and flows southwest through the Barossa Valley, passing through the towns of Nuriootpa, Tanunda, before merging with the South Para River in Gawler forming the Gawler River. The North Para River catchment is one of the key watersheds in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges. It plays a very important role in the economy of South Australia, providing much of the water used by viticulture in the Barossa Valley.

Gawler Oval railway station is a railway station on the Gawler railway line in the South Australian town of Gawler. It is located 41.4 km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station. During 2006 the platform at Gawler Oval was extended to accommodate 3 car trains. A new passenger shelter was also installed. Before the platform was lengthened, only 2 car trains could use the platform, and the train had to be stopped precisely so that none of the train doors were beyond the ends of the platform.

Gawler Central railway station is the terminus railway station on the Gawler railway line which is located in the South Australian town of Gawler. It is located 42.2km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station. The station was opened in May 1911 and was originally named Willaston. It was renamed North Gawler in September 1911. On 12 February 1984 the name was changed to Gawler Central.

It rises in the Mount Lofty Ranges near Mount Crawford and Kersbrook and flows northwest through the Mount Lofty Ranges, passing through the Warren Reservoir and the South Para Reservoir, before merging with the North Para River in Gawler forming the Gawler River. The South Para River catchment is one of the key watersheds in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges.
Gawler High School
Gawler High School is a secondary public school located in Evanston, South Australia. The school was founded in 1907 (with the motto, Vade ad Formicam), making it the oldest school in the area. The current principal is Mr. Greg Harvey who succeeded Sandra Lowery, who left the school at the end of the 2007 school year, ending her 15 years as headmistress. Gawler High School has some 800 pupils as of 2009, ranging from educational year groups eight to twelve.
