HMAS Kuttabul (naval base)
HMAS Kuttabul is the Royal Australian Navy's primary naval base {Fleet Base East} on the east coast of Australia. It is located on Garden Island in Sydney, New South Wales. The administrative, training and logistics support centre is situated south of Garden Island in the suburb of Potts Point. The base is named for the steam ferry HMAS Kuttabul that was sunk while docked at Garden Island during the Japanese midget submarine attack on Sydney Harbour in 1942.

Garden Island Naval Chapel
The Naval Chapel at Garden Island dockyard is the oldest Christian chapel of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). It was established in 1902 after conversion from the former sail loft, and has stained glass windows and plaques from that era to the present. The building is the oldest on Garden Island, two storey, built of stuccoed brick with stone sills, arches and columns. The original loft floor of timber remains, caulked with oakum and bitumen.

Built between 1835 and 1839, Elizabeth Bay House was known as 'the finest house in the colony'. Elizabeth Bay House is a home in the Regency style, originally surrounded by a 54-acre garden, but now situated within a densely populated inner city suburb. It is managed by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales as a museum that is open to the public.

The Downunder Hostel Fire was a lethal fire on 17 September 1989, set shortly before 5:00 am in a backpackers hostel on Darlinghurst Road in the Kings Cross area of Sydney, Australia. Kings Cross is a very popular destination with international backpackers visiting Australia. The fire was the fifth most deadly disaster in Australia in 1989.
Savoy Hotel fire
The Savoy Hotel on Darlinghurst Road in the Kings Cross area of Sydney, Australia burned down on 25 December 1975 with the loss of 15 lives. It was the deadliest hotel fire in Australia at that time.
