Georgia State University

Georgia State University (GSU) is a 4-year research university in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Founded in 1913, it is one of the University System of Georgia's four research universities. Atlanta Marriott Marquis

The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is a 52-story, 168.86 m Marriott hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the 14th tallest skyscraper in the city. The building was designed by Atlanta architect John C. Portman, Jr. with construction completed in 1985, and because of its bulging base, it is often referred to as the "Pregnant Building". One of the defining features of the Marriott Marquis is its large atrium. It was the largest in the world upon its completion in 1985, at 470 feet (143 m) high.

Grady Memorial Hospital

Grady Memorial Hospital, frequently referred to as Grady Hospital or simply Grady, is the largest hospital in the state of Georgia and the public hospital for the city of Atlanta. It is the fifth-largest public hospital in the United States, as well as one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in the country. Historical segregation of its hospital units meant that it was also called "The Gradys," a name that still surfaces among elderly Atlanta residents, especially African-Americans.

GSU Sports Arena

The Georgia State University Sports Arena is an indoor arena located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is the home of the basketball teams of Georgia State University and hosted the badminton competition of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Georgia State's women's volleyball team uses the facility as well.

King Memorial (MARTA station)

King Memorial is an elevated station on the Blue and part-time on the Green lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. The station name is a portmanteau of Martin Luther King and nearby Memorial Drive. It mainly serves The Sweet Auburn Historic District in the city of Atlanta, as well as the communities surrounding Oakland Cemetery. It provides access to The Oakland Cemetery.

Municipal Auditorium (Atlanta)

Atlanta Municipal Auditorium, originally known as the Auditorium and Armory, was an auditorium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It was constructed with funds raised by a committee of Atlanta citizens and then sold to the city of Atlanta. The structure was dedicated in a pre-inaugural visit from President William Howard Taft in 1909 during which he was served a 'possum dinner, and the dining hall in which this took place was named in his honor.

Rhodes-Haverty Building

The Residence Inn Atlanta Downtown is a 21-story hotel tower occupying the former Rhodes-Haverty Building at 134 Peachtree Street NW and Williams Street in the Fairlie-Poplar historic district of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The building was designed by Atlanta architects Pringle and Smith. At the time of its construction in 1929, it was the tallest building in the city, and remained so until 1954. The building and the district are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital

The Hughes Spalding Pavilion, located in Atlanta, Georgia, was a private hospital that served African-American patients beginning in 1952, and serving in a variety of functions through 1989. Renamed the Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital, it reopened in 1992 as a pediatric hospital. The hospital, now named Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding, is now owned by Grady Health System and managed by HSOC, Inc. , an affiliate of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Antoine Graves (building)

Antoine Graves was a senior citizen highrise in Atlanta, Georgia built in 1965. Located at 126 SE Hilliard St. SE, Downtown. Demolished 2009 including annex. Antoine Graves was designed by architect John C. Portman, Jr. and was one of his earliest and most influential projects, his first atrium building and only public housing project. He adapted its atrium design in 1967 for the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, a building which brough Portman international fame.

Homage to King

Homage to King is a sculpture by Xavier Medina Campeny. It is located at the southwest corner of Freedom Parkway and Boulevard in Atlanta, Georgia in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The work portrays Martin Luther King, Jr. outstretching his arms, representing a welcome to those visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. , National Historic Site.
