Battle of Peachtree Creek

The Battle of Peachtree Creek was fought in Georgia on July 20, 1864, as part of the Atlanta Campaign in the American Civil War. It was the first major attack by Lt. Gen. John B. Hood since taking command of the Confederate Army of Tennessee. The attack was against Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's Union army which was perched on the doorstep of Atlanta. The main armies in the conflict were the Union Army of the Cumberland, commanded by Maj. Gen.

Hebrew Benevolent Congregation Temple bombing

The Hebrew Benevolent Congregation Temple, a Reform Jewish temple located on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia, and known simply as "The Temple," was bombed in the early morning hours of October 12, 1958. An explosion of approximately fifty sticks of dynamite tore through the side wall of the building. The synagogue was one of Atlanta's oldest and wealthiest. No one was injured in the bombing. Those who heard the blast reported a "loud explosion" to police and newspapers.

3344 Peachtree is a 50 story high-rise building of 635 feet (193.5 m) height located in Atlanta's uptown business district of Buckhead on Peachtree Road, the northern extension of Peachtree Street. The building is a mixed-use tower that incorporates upscale dining, office space, and 82 condominiums at 3344 Peachtree Road. Completed in the spring of 2008, it is the tallest mixed-use building in Atlanta.

Peachtree 25th Building

The Peachtree 25th Building is a ten-story high-rise office building, located on the southwest corner of Peachtree Street and 25th Street in northwest Atlanta, Georgia, USA, between Midtown and Buckhead. Built in the 1960s, it became well known for the major building fire that occurred there on 30 June 1989. That morning, the power went out on the sixth floor.

Atlantic Steel

The Atlantic Steel Company was a steel company in Atlanta, Georgia with a large steel mill on the site of today's Atlantic Station multi-use complex. Atlantic Steel's history dated back to 1901 when it was founded as the Atlanta Hoop Company, with 120 employees, and which produced cotton bale ties and barrel hoops. It became the Atlanta Steel Company, and then in December 1915, the Atlantic Steel Company. From 1908-1922 Thomas K. Glenn was the company's president.
