Third Mainland Bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria to the mainland, the other two being the Eko and Carter bridges. It is the longest bridge in Africa. The bridge starts from Oworonshoki which is linked to the Apapa-Oshodi express way and Lagos-Ibadan express way, and ends at the Adeniji Adele Interchange on Lagos Island. There is also a link midway through the bridge that leads to the Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba.

Lagos armoury explosion

The Lagos armoury explosion was the accidental detonation of a large stock of military high explosives at a storage facility in the city of Lagos, Nigeria on 27 January 2002. The fires created by the debris from this explosion burnt down a large section of Northern Lagos, and created a panic that spread to other areas. As people fled the flames, many stumbled into a concealed canal and were drowned.

Eko Bridge

Eko Bridge is the shortest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria to the mainland, the other two being the Third Mainland and Carter bridges. The bridge starts from Ijora on the mainland and ends at the Apongbon area of Lagos Island. The lagoon section of the bridge spans a distance of 430 metres. The bridge and its landward extension of 1350 metres were constructed in phases between 1965 and 1975.

Onikan Stadium

Onikan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Lagos, Nigeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of various Lagos teams, most notably Stationery Stores F.C. , First Bank and Julius Berger FC. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people and is the oldest in Nigeria. Teslim Balogun Stadium

Teslim Balogun Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Lagos, Nigeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as a home ground of First Bank F.C.. The stadium holds 24,325 people and sits adjacent to the Lagos National Stadium. It is named after former professional footballer Teslim Balogun. By the time the stadium was completed in 2007, it took 23 years to build and cost over N1.3 billion.

Dodan Barracks

Dodan Barracks is a military barracks occupying a large area located off Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. Dodan Barracks was the residence of the heads of state of various Military Governments in Nigeria, and also the Supreme Military Headquarters from 1966 until the move to Abuja in 1991. EAS Airlines Flight 4226 was a scheduled flight between the Nigerian cities of Kano and Lagos. At about 14:35 local time on 4 May 2002, Flight 4226 from Kano crash-landed in a residential area of the city called Gwammaja. The plane, a BAC One-Eleven 500 with 69 passengers and 8 crew members on board, burst into flames upon impact. The accident resulted in the deaths of 64 passengers and 7 crew in addition to at least 74 civilians on the ground.

Iddo Island

Iddo Island was an island opposite Lagos Island in Nigeria, but due to infill is now part of the mainland. Iddo Island is connected to Lagos Island by the Eko Bridge and the Carter Bridge. Lagos was founded by the Bini in the sixteenth century on the site of an earlier Yoruba settlement, and was known as Eko. The rulers of Lagos since then have all descended from the Benin warrior Ashipa who was the first king of the town, although the aristocracy are Yoruba.
