Riga Castle
Riga Castle is a castle on the banks of River Daugava in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The castle was founded in 1330. This structure was thoroughly rebuilt between 1497 and 1515. Upon the castle's seizure by the Swedes, they constructed spacious annexes in 1641. The fortress was continually augmented and reconstructed between the 17th and 19th centuries. Sometime in the 1930s, some renovation work was done by architect Eižens Laube.
Spilve Airport
Spilve Airport (Latvian: Spilves lidosta, also given as Rīgas Centrālā Lidosta – Riga Central Airport) is a former civilian and military airport in Latvia located 5 km north of the Riga city centre, from which aircraft took off as early as the First World War. It became the first international airport of Riga in the 1930s and fell into disuse in 1980s after the new Riga International Airport was built.
Torņakalns
Torņakalns is a neighbourhood of Riga, Latvia. Located on the westbank of the Daugava River (neighborhoods along this shore are collectively known as Pārdaugava). The name Torņakalns derives from a fortified tower built in the Middle Ages close to the Daugava River to alarm the city of Riga in case of emergency and unwelcomed intruders about to cross the river. The tower does not stand nowadays. Torņakalns was an early suburb to Riga, consisting largely of gardens and mansions.
Victory Memorial to Soviet Army (Riga)
The Victory Memorial to Soviet Army in Riga, Latvia was erected in 1985 to commemorate the Soviet Army's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. It consists of a 79 meter tall obelisk and two groups of sculptures. In 1997 it was bombed by members of the Latvian neo-Nazi group Pērkonkrusts, two of whom died during the bombing.
Duchy of Courland and Semigallia (1918)
The Duchy of Courland and Semigallia was briefly a client state of the German Empire. It was proclaimed on 8 March 1918, in German-occupied Courland Governorate by a Landesrat composed of Baltic Germans, who offered the crown of the once-autonomous Duchy to Kaiser Wilhelm II, despite the existence of a formerly sovereign reigning family in that duchy, the Biron descendents of Ernst Johann von Biron.
Ķīpsala
Ķīpsala is an island on the left bank of the Daugava river, connected to Riga city center and Pārdaugava by the Shroud Bridge. Ķīpsala is divided from the rest of Riga by the Daugava in the east, Roņu dīķis in the north, Zunda in the west and Agenskalna līcis in the south. In recent years Ķīpsala has become a prestigious area for living in Riga.
Vanšu Bridge
The Vanšu Bridge in Riga is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Daugava river in Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is one of five bridges crossing Daugava in Riga; it is 595 meters long, it was built during the Soviet period and opened to public use in 1981 as the Gorky Bridge after Maxim Gorky street.

Andrejsala
Andrejsala is a district of Riga, Latvia, located within the former territory of an industrial port next to the city center. It is currently developed into a significant art, culture and entertainment center featuring exhibition halls, clubs, workshops, studios, a cafe and a hotel. The plans for future development of the area are in the works as of June, 2007. Buildings without heritage value in Andrejsala will be demolished and in their place new buildings will be built.
