Daugava River
The River Daugava or Western Dvina, not to be confused with Northern Dvina, is a river rising in the Valdai Hills, Russia, flowing through Russia, Belarus, and Latvia, draining into the Gulf of Riga in Latvia, an arm of the Baltic Sea. The total length of the river is 1,005 km : 325 km in Russia, 328 km in Belarus, and 352 km in Latvia. In the 19th century, it was connected by a canal to the Berezina and Dnieper rivers (the canal is currently not functioning).
Lielupe
The Lielupe is a river in central Latvia. Its length is 119 km (the length would reach 310 km if the Mēmele River would be counted as part of the Lielupe). The surface area of its basin is 17,600 km². The average fall of the Lielupe is about (.1 meter/kilometer) and its average volume is 106 m³/s, although 1380 m³/s is the maximum during floods.
Daugavgrīva
Daugavgrīva is a neighbourhood in North West Riga, Latvia on the left bank of Daugava river. In this neighbourhood there is located Swedish built fortress on the Daugava River's left bank, commanding its mouth.
Bolderāja
Bolderāja is a district to the north-west of Riga, the capital of Latvia. It probably began as a fishing village. The area has been inhabited since at least the 10th century and possibly for a longer period of time but unfortunately there is no firm evidence because of variations in the course of the Daugava River and the shifting of sand dunes. The area was made into a Polish customs post in 1606. The wooden houses built during the Polish era in 1603 may be the oldest in Riga.
Imanta
Imanta is a neighbourhood on the northwestern edge of Riga, Latvia. The neighbourhood's northern border is Kurzeme Prospekts (Boulevard); and in the south, Imanta is separated from the newer Zolitude neighbourhood by the Riga railroad. Prior to development, the region consisted largely of pine forests, sections of which have been preserved in Anninmuiza Park in the center of Imanta, and the Kleistu forest to its north.
Zolitūde
Zolitūde is mainly an apartment house neighbourhood, of Riga, the capital of Latvia, located on the city's western edge. Zolitūde is a centrally planned estate, consisting mostly of prefabricated concrete block "Brutalist style" homes built in late Soviet times. Construction has started in 1984, and mostly halted in 1991, when Latvia obtained its independence from the USSR. Large parts of the population, as in similar neighbourhoods of Riga, appear to be Russian speaking.
Ziepniekkalns
Ziepniekkalns is a neighborhood of Riga, Latvia. It is located in the Pārdaugava section of Riga close to the city's southern border. Ziepniekkalns is the latest out of all Riga's neighborhoods. It was built in the late 1980s and early 1990s and mostly consists of Soviet-built 10 story apartment buildings. However, there are still many older buildings in Ziepniekkalns constructed in the early 1960s. There is a major contrast between older 3 story buildings and newer 10 story ones.

Beberbeķi
Beberbeķi is a neighbourhood consisting mainly of private houses, it lies on the western edge of the Riga city. Swampy forest Mūķupurvs and Rīga International Airport noise area divides it from the rest of the city. Within the neighborhood is Bebebeki Park, which contains a small lake used as a beach and ice fishing.

Abava Valley
The Abava Valley is the valley of the Abava River in Talsi, Tukums, and Kuldīga municipalities, Latvia, in the historical Kurzeme region. On 20 June 1996 the Republic of Latvia designated the Abava Valley the specially protected cultural territory and on 03/01/2005 it was submitted for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The valley is the route of the historical road from Riga to Prussia and Northern Germany, and as such, it is rich in historical and cultural monuments.
