Fremont is a city in Alameda County, California. It was incorporated on January 23, 1956, from the merger of five smaller communities: Centerville, Niles, Irvington, Mission San Jose, and Warm Springs. The city is named after American explorer John Charles Frémont, "the Great Pathfinder.

Fremont (BART station)

Fremont is a Bay Area Rapid Transit station that serves Fremont, California. The elevated island platform serves as the southernmost terminal station of BART's Fremont line, which is served by trains on the Fremont - Daly City Line, which runs daytimes Monday-Saturday, and the Richmond - Fremont Line whose trains run during all BART service times. All trains terminate service and reverse direction at this station.

Centerville Pioneer Cemetery

The Centerville Pioneer Cemetery, also known as the Centerville Presbyterian Cemetery, is located at the corner of Post Street and Bonde Way in Fremont, California and was officially designated a state cemetery in 1858 or 1859 depending upon the source. At the time it was established the cemetery was in Washington Township, which was made up of the villages of Mission San Jose, Irvington, Warm Springs, Centerville, Niles, Newark, Alvarado and Decoto.

Niles Cone

The Niles Cone is a groundwater basin in Alameda County, California, USA which is the source of drinking water for a sizeable human urban population in the East Bay. The land area corresponding to this groundwater basin is approximately 103 square miles; (California, 1998) the Niles Cone Basin is bounded on the east by the Diablo Range and on the west by San Francisco Bay. Surface runoff in the Alameda Creek catchment basin accounts for much of the recharge of the Niles Cone.

Shinn (formerly, Shinn Station) is a former unincorporated community, now incorporated into Fremont in Alameda County, California. It lies at an elevation of 69 feet . The Shinn area is bounded approximately by Peralta Blvd to the south and Niles to the north and forms the northern part of the Parkmont district of Fremont. In the Shinn area is the Shinn Pond and the Shinn Historic Park and Arboretum, where the Shinn house still stands.
