Action of 16 May 1797
The action of 16 May 1797 took place near Tripoli in present-day Libya. The Danish squadron was victorious over a Tripolitan squadron that outnumbered them in terms of the number of vessels. The result was a peace treaty between the Bey of Tripoli and Denmark.

First Battle of Tripoli Harbor
The First Battle of Tripoli Harbor was a naval battle fought on May 16, 1802 in Tripoli Harbor between a combined force consisting of the American frigate USS Boston and two Swedish Navy frigates against several Tripolitan Barbary corsairs. The Swedish-American force was enforcing the blockade when an engagement broke out between it and Tripolitan forces. The Allied fleet damaged the Tripolitan squadron as well as the harbor fortifications before withdrawing and resuming the blockade.

Red Castle Museum
The Red Castle Museum or Assaraya Alhamra Museum, or Archaeological Museum of Tripoli, is Libya's national museum. Designed in conjunction with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the museum covers 5,000 years from prehistory to the independence revolution (1953) era. It is located in Tripoli's Assaria al-Hamra or Red Castle fortress, on the promontory above and adjacent to the old-town district with medina Ghadema.
Siege of Tripoli (1551)
The Siege of Tripoli occurred in 1551 when the Ottomans besieged and vanquished the Knights of Malta in the fortress of Tripoli, modern Libya. The Spanish Habsburgs had established a fort in Tripoli in 1510 under Charles V, and remitted it the Knights in 1530. The siege culminated in a six-day bombardment and the surrender of the city on 15 August.
Action of 1 August 1801
The Action of 1 August 1801 was a single-ship action of the First Barbary War fought between the American schooner USS Enterprise and the Tripolitan polacca Tripoli off the coast of modern-day Libya. As part of Commodore Richard Dale's Mediterranean Squadron, Enterprise had been deployed with the American force blockading the Vilayet of Tripoli. Enterprise, under the command of Lieutenant Andrew Sterett, had been sent by Commodore Dale to gather supplies at Malta.

Action of 22 June 1803
The Action of 22 June 1803 was a naval battle between the United States Navy and the Tripolitan Navy during the First Barbary War. Two ships from the American squadron blockading Tripoli, the USS John Adams and the USS Enterprise, met and engaged a Tripolitan polacre along with nine gunboats. After fighting a sharp action for forty five minutes the gunboats veered off and the polacre was abandoned.
Bombardment of Tripoli (1828)
The Bombardment of Tripoli in 1828 was a naval engagement fought between the navies of Tripoli and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. After the Pasha of Tripoli demanded money from the Kingdom of Two Sicillies in exchange for peace, the Neapolitan government sent a squadron to Tripoli to refuse the Tripolitan demands and attempt to coerce the Tripolitans away from war.

The main commercial center of the city surrounds the square. The Square is also a main tourist attraction in Tripoli.
Zawiyat al-Dahmani
Zawiyat al-Dahmani is a suburb of Tripoli, Libya. It lies between the coast to the north, and the suburb of Fashloom to the south. As of 22 February 2011, during the Libyan civil war, there were reports that it had been cordoned off by Libyan security forces. At the beginning of the Battle of Tripoli, Al Jazeera reported that Zawiyat al-Dahmani was under the opposition control.
Fashloom
The Fashloom district is a suburb of Tripoli, Libya. It lies inland to the south of the suburb of Zawiyat al-Dahmani, and southeast of the Martyrs' Square. It is one of the more impoverished districts of the city. On 22 February 2011, during the Libyan civil war, there were reports that it had been cordoned off by Libyan security forces. An anti-Gaddafi street protest took place in Fashloom on 7 April. Participants' faces were hidden with scarves and they held anti-Gaddafi banners.

The 2011 Tripoli clashes were a series of confrontations between Libyan anti-government demonstrators and forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in the capital city of Tripoli at the beginning of the Libyan civil war. During the early days of the uprising, there was significant unrest in the city, but the city remained under the control of the government.
Tarabulus Zoo Park
Tarabulus Zoo Park is a park in Tripoli, Libya, located to the south of Tripoli city center. Tripoli Zoo is in the south-west corner of the park, and the Rixos Al Nasr hotel is situated in its south-east corner. Souq al Jum'aa
Souq al Jum`aa is a district in Tripoli, Libya. The Souq al Jum'aa residents are known to be the original inhabitants of Tripoli. The population (2011) is estimated to be at 450,000. 95% of the native residents are considered ethnically Arab. The rest are usually black Africans. The area was named after a market called Friday's Market, which is what the name translates to in Arabic. The market was called by this name because it only opened on Fridays.

Rixos Al Nasr
The Rixos Al Nasr is a five star hotel in Tripoli, Libya. Owned by the Turkish-based Rixos Hotels group, it is located in the center of Tripoli, at one corner of Tarabulus Zoo Park. Opened on the 12 March 2010, amongst its first guests was the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afewerki. The hotel has two floors built on timber, and is surrounded by a garden that backs on to Tripoli's biggest parkland. All external surfaces of the hotel building are covered with green plants.

Royal Palace of Tripoli
The Royal Palace was the residence of the Libyan monarch in the capital city Tripoli. Another residence was the Al-Manar Palace in Benghazi, which was donated by King Idris of Libya as the first campus of the University of Libya. Another residence at Bab Zaytun was further to the east in Tobruk. It was converted into a public library after the coup d'etat of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
Maktab al-Nasser prison
Maktab al-Nasser prison is a prison in the Abu Salim district of Tripoli, Libya. Prior to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's government in the 2011 Libyan civil war, it served as a prison and office of the internal security agency. Many of the prisoners held there would often be later transferred to Abu Salim prison.
