Port Pirie
Port Pirie is the sixth most populous city in South Australia after Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Whyalla, Murray Bridge and Port Lincoln. It is a seaport on the east coast of the Spencer Gulf, 224 km north of Adelaide. The settlement was founded in 1845 and is the site of the world's largest lead smelter, operated by Nyrstar. It also produces refined silver, zinc, copper and gold.

The school was closed at the end of 1994 and students were moved to the John Pirie High School. Risdon Park High School was located on Senate Rd, between Hannan St, Creasy St, and Ferme St in the suburb of Risdon Park in Port Pirie. The site is now the Risdon Grove Housing Estate.

The Spencer Gulf Important Bird Area comprises a 460 km strip of coastal land extending for about 100 km along the north-eastern coast of the Spencer Gulf, on the west side of the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia. It passes close to the towns of Port Germein and Port Broughton, and the industrial city of Port Pirie. It is an important site for waders, or shorebirds.
