Zhongxing New Village
Zhongxing New Village (formerly Chung Hsing New Village) is located in Nantou City, Nantou County, Taiwan (ROC) and is the seat of government of Taiwan Province. The term "Zhongxing" (中興) is from the Chinese legend "少康中興" Shàokāng Zhōngxīng, referring to the restoration of the Xia Dynasty by king Shaokang, an allusion to the ROC government taking back mainland China. It is a new town with a population of 25,549 as of February 2010.
Nantou County
Nantou County is the second largest county of Taiwan. It is also the only landlocked county in Taiwan. Its name derives from the Hoanya Taiwanese aboriginal word Ramtau. Nantou County is officially administered as a county of Taiwan Province. Its mountainous area makes it a tourist destination; Sun Moon Lake is located in this county. Other well-known areas of the county are Hehuanshan and Sitou. Notable cities in Nantou: Nantou City, Puli.
Wufeng District
Wufeng is a suburban district in southern Taichung, of the Republic of China. It was the location of Taiwan Provincial Council before 1999. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town. It was heavily damaged by the Chi-Chi earthquake on September 21, 1999, which caused around 100 deaths in the town.
Nantou City
Nantou City is located in the northwest of Nantou County, Taiwan, Republic of China. It lies between the Bagua Mountains and the Maoluo River and is the seat of Nantou County. Freeway No. 3 serves Nantou City. Its name is a transliteration of the Hoanya word Ramtau with the characters 南投 chosen to complement 北投, a district in Taipei, even though there is no relation between the aboriginal words.
Dali District
Dali (大里) is an inner city district in the eastern part of Taichung, Taiwan. The "Dali" names from 大里杙 (Dali yi, Dali is from aborigines, yi is a bamboo raft's toon.).
National Highway 3 (Taiwan)
National Highway No. 3 is the second North-South freeway in Taiwan. It begins in Keelung City at Jijin Interchange on the Provincial Highway No. 2 (Jijin Road) and ends in Linbian, Pingtung on the Provincial Highway No. 17. The total length of the highway is 430.5 km, with 55 interchanges, 13 junctions, 11 toll stations, and 7 service areas en route. Aside from the 55 public interchanges, there are also some interchanges reserved for governmental usage.
Baguashan Tunnel
Baguashan Tunnel, on Provincial Highway No. 76, Taiwan, transverses Baguashan (八卦山) between Lincuo IC. (林厝交流道) and Jhongsing SIC. (中興系統交流道). The length of the north tube for westbound traffic is 4,928 m . The length of the south tube for eastbound traffic is 4,935 m . Connecting Yuanlin, Changhua and Caotun, Nantou, its opening significantly reduced the travel time between Changhua and Nantou.
Chaoyang University of Technology
Chaoyang University of Technology is located in Wufeng District of Taichung City, Taiwan. Founded in 1994. Originally named Chaoyang Institute of Technology. on August 1, 1997, Chaoyang Institute of Technology was designated by the Ministry of Education as a University of Technology, the school name was officially changed to Chaoyang University of Technology, was Taiwan's first private University of Technology.

1916–17 Nantou earthquakes
The 1916–17 Nantou earthquakes were a series of earthquakes which affected central Taiwan in 1916 and 1917, causing heavy damage in sparsely populated Nantou County and claiming 71 lives. The strongest quake registered at 6.8 ML and besides the loss of life caused widespread damage to agricultural and forestry industries in central Taiwan.
