Uppsala Astronomical Observatory
The Uppsala Astronomical Observatory (UAO; Astronomiska observatoriet i Uppsala) is the oldest astronomical observatory in Sweden. It was founded in 1741, though there was a professorial chair of astronomy at the University of Uppsala from 1593 and the university archives include lecture notes in astronomy from the 1480s. In the 18th century, Anders Celsius performed his research there and built the first observatory proper in 1741.
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences or Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet (SLU) is a university in Sweden. Although its head office is located in Ultuna, Uppsala, the university has several campuses in different parts of Sweden, the other main facilities being Alnarp in Lomma Municipality, Skara, and Umeå. Unlike other state owned universities in Sweden, it is funded through the budget for the Ministry for Rural Affairs.
Upplands regemente (infantry)
Upplands regemente (Uppland Regiment), designation I 8, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was disbanded in 1957. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the province of Uppland, and it was later garrisoned there.

Gottsunda
Gottsunda, is a district in Uppsala, Sweden. In 2007, it had 9,474 inhabitants of whom 4,610 (48,7%) had a foreign background. The name is derived form the farm Gottsunda, and Gutasund or Guttasund is mentioned in sources as far back as 1304. The majority of present buildings were built as part of the so called Million Programme in the 1960s and 1970s. The Swedish botanist Carl von Linné is known to have made excursions to Gottsunda with his students during the 18th century.
