Bucharest

Bucharest is the capital municipality, cultural, industrial, and financial centre of Romania. University Square, Bucharest

University Square is located in downtown Bucharest, near the University of Bucharest. It is served by Universitate metro station. Four statues can be found in the University Square, in front of the University; they depict Ion Heliade Rădulescu (1879), Michael the Brave (1874), Gheorghe Lazăr (1889) and Spiru Haret (1932). The square was the site of the 1990 Golaniad, a peaceful student protest against the ex-communists in the Romanian government.

Manuc's Inn

Manuc's Inn was, until it was recently shut for restoration and refurbishment, the oldest operating hotel building in Bucharest, Romania; it also housed a popular restaurant, several bars, a coffee-house, and (facing the street) several stores and an extensive bar. Its massive, multiply balconied courtyard hosted many performances and fairs and was a popular place for Romanian television crews to shoot folkloric performances.

Piața Unirii metro station

Lăptăria lui Enache (literally "Enache's Milk Bar") is one of the top bars in Bucharest, Romania. Located in a slightly curved space above the main halls of Bucharest National Theatre on Piaţa Universităţii, the bar is one of the city's best-known gathering spots and music venues. Unirea Shopping Center

Turnul Colței

Turnul Colţei (also Turnul Colţea or Colţii) was a tower located in Bucharest, Wallachia, now in Romania. Having a height of 50 metres, it was the highest building in the city for more than a century. Its initial purpose was to be used as a bell tower — its 1,700 kg bell, was moved to the Sinaia Monastery after the tower was demolished. Its was also meant to serve as a watch tower. The tower was named after Vornic Colţea Doicescu.

Hanul cu Tei

Hanul cu Tei is one of the few still standing old inns in central Bucharest, Romania. It was built in 1833 by Anastasie Hagi Gheorghe Polizu and Ştefan Popovici, on the trading street of Lipscani. It was also called the Bezesten de pe Uliţa cea mare a Marchitanilor ("The Inn on the Wide Street of the Merchants"). It is the only historic inn in Bucharest that has preserved its shape exactly as it was at its origins.

Piața Rosetti is a small square in Sector 2 of Bucharest, 250 metres from Piaţa Universităţii. It is named after former mayor, politician, and 1848 revolutionary C. A. Rosetti. Templul Coral

The Choral Temple (Ro. Templul Coral) is a synagogue located in Bucharest, Romania. It is a copy of Vienna's Leopoldstadt-Tempelgasse Great Synagogue, which was raised in 1855-1858. It was designed by Enderle and Freiwald and built between 1857 - 1867. The synagogue was devastated by the extreme right Legionaries, but was then restored after World War II, in 1945. It still hosts religious services, being one of the still active synagogues in the city and in Romania.

Spiru Haret University

The Spiru Haret University is a private university in Bucharest, Romania, founded in 1991 by the president of Tomorrow's Romania Foundation, Aurelian Gh. Bondrea, as part of the teaching activities of this foundation. The university claims this has been done according to the model used by Harvard University. The university bears the name of a scientist and reformer of the Romanian education, Spiru Haret, who lived before the Great War.
